My body will tense and the tapping becomes quicker and my finger just wants to stay on that point longer. So, I know that point must be key in helping with the issue for which I'm tapping. There are some physical conditions for which I tap that I do not yet understand the underlying emotion. If I could understand what each tapping point signifies, then I feel I could get to the root of my subconscious issues better. If someone could give me a link to an explanation of the whys and wherefores of each tapping point, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks!

Re: tapping points

Hey Scott,

Welcome to the forums. Thanks for your post.

EFT is about results. So, my suggestion is that if you feel a difference when you tap there great. If it's not consistent, I have another suggestion. I'd do a little detective work to shift things from mechanical EFT (tapping on the solar plexus) to "intuitive EFT". Here's some questions to explore what might be living in your solar plexus:

If the fear in your solar plexus could talk, what would it say?

If you had a magic camera that could show the area in your solar plexus, what would it show?

If there was a time in your life that was connected to the fear in your solar plexus, what would that be?

If there was a person connected with the feeling in your solar plexus, who would that be?

Is there an image or a color connected with the feeling?

All of these are designed to help deepen the exploration Scott and find the core issues beneath the feeling. Once you start tapping on the core issues, things often shift in a much more reliable way.

Take care,

Paul

Re: Tapping other people?

Hi Sanne,

As far as tapping goes, I would be very careful. If you're having surgery, I would NOT tap hard. Maybe you could gently massage instead of tap (?).

I've had a few bouts of gall-bladder attacks myself (definitely NO fun!!). I haven't looked up any of these points specifically to tell you exactly what they are, but they completely released the last attack I used it on. There are several you can use -- You'll probably have to feel around for them: One is on the mid-back, near the base of your ribcage, closest to where the main back muscle meets the lower ribcage (a little burried in the muscle). Depending on your anatomy and weight, you'll probably need to explore a little to find where spots are sensitive. If you find one, that's a good place to begin.

I have a special "massager" made by Panasonic, called the Shiatsu Accu-Tap II. It provides a VERY firm (and either fast or slow) tapping (it can bruise you if you don't have it set right, or if you accidentally tap on a bone -- OUCH!). But concentrated tapping on that back/rib point completely released the blockage. After the attack cleared I was exhausted and slept an entire day -- but it certainly kept me out of the hospital, and I haven't had an attack since.

You can also tap (again, very gently if you've just had surgery) directly over / around the gall-bladder area -- and also feel around at the tips (& edges) of all your ribs-- especially on the ribs about a hands spread below the underarm point on your side.

Blessings to you for a speedy recovery! Keep us posted and let me know if this helped any.

 - Leigha

Re: Hand/Wrist Pain Brought on by EFT

You're very welcome Asia! There are a lot of really interesting ways to work with pain and the "prescription" varies (of course) depending on the person and situation. One great technique is to spend some time thanking and accepting the pain... sometimes we even apologize to "it" for us not having recognized that it was trying to communicate and help us. Speak to it as you're tapping your rounds... verbally follow it around your body by calling it out. For example, if you were working a pain in your abdomen, at each point you may be saying something like, "this pain in my lower right abdomen". When you notice it is moving, let it know you noticed, saying something like "I feel you shifting into my hip".

I often do personify the pain symbolically (but only if a client is comfortable with that) calling the pain "you" and even playing a game of "hide & seek" with it. Just use your intuition and determination!

Blessings,

Re: Hand/Wrist Pain Brought on by EFT

Hello Asia,

Tapping like this isn't something you've probably ever done much of before... it's likely that your hands and wrists may take a little time to adjust, especially if you're doing it more often and "enthusiastically" as you say. It could be that maybe you're tapping a little too hard -- and if so, you can lighten up a bit... maybe massage your knuckles; stretch your hands and wrists between tapping; or just back off a bit.

WITH THAT SAID... what I really believe is happening, is that you're naturally finding your alternative tapping points! When I first began working with EFT, I made some major breakthroughs by noticing when/where these little pains began to pop up -- and using them as "alternative" tapping points in addition to the EFT basic recipe. Go ahead and tap directly on them (but also keep doing the basic recipe). For me, they always (surprise-surprise) corresponded perfectly with some published acupuncture meridian point.

Now when I tap, I notice all sensations immediately -- even if something just seems like a small "itch" -- I follow it... allowing those sensations to guide me as to where I need to tap. It's also a great way to "Chase the Pain". For me, I find that when one of the tapping points is sensitive, it's because something is blocked there, and I tend to tap longer on that point -- which then clears completely. I experience that a lot when using the Karate-Chop point, the 9-Gamut and many alternative points on my head and face. I typically check the tapping points on both sides to see whether one side might be more sensitive than the other -- in which case, I always choose the spot most "sore" to tap on, regardless of which side I'm doing my general tapping on.

There are websites you can search online that post fairly detailed pictures of where the acupressure meridian points are.

I hope this helps!

Kindest regards,

Remote healing

There's been some amazing stories about the ability to provide healing for other people who can't or won't try the therapy for themselves. Surely this must convince the most blinkered sceptic that the system works. I've been fascinated to learn that tapping has even proven to work on animals and have tried it for myself.

I recently bought my children an aquarium. They are very young and have never had a pet before. I decided on fish because they were low maintenance. I bought 6 tropical fish and the children loved them. However after a few days I noticed their tails and fins start to appear ragged and a slimy coating on their bodies. The next morning 2 were dead and the children were distraught.

We all tapped together to calm them down and then I thought "Why not see if we can may the fish better?" So we all sat around the fishtank and trying tapping on a number of meridian points. The folloing morning I almost didn't dare look at the aquarium in case more fish were dead - but they weren't! Encouraged we all tried the tapping exercise again and over the course of a week the fishs' fins grew back to their previous state.

Has anyone else tried anything similar? I can let you have details of the meridians that seemedto work for me if you're interested.

Re: tapping points :-) - further to that question

Hi,

For 95% of the time, I don't use the gamut point (on the top of the hand between the baby finger tendon and ring finger tendon). However, there is a time to use the gamut point. I use it when the intensity level gets below a 3. This particular part used to really turn me off--the rolling of the eyes, humming and counting. It balances the right and left hemisphere of the brain. Personally, I haven't used the finger points in several years, and get great results.

When you are first learning--follow a pattern that you like--so you feel comfortable learning it.Personally I like including the liver point, wrist points and top of head. Also, I like tapping on both sides of the body.

Hope this helps... and keep on tapping.

Re: tapping points :-) - further to that question

FYI - found a gamut point video:

This following link is showing the tapping points quite clearly,

http://www.tap4health.com/eft-tapping-points.html

If you use several fingers as you tap, you cover a larger area especially under the arm.

And yes, you are doing it right, with your phrasing, remember words are just there to connect with the block. so tune in...and don't hesitate to follow up what may come up...

Happy tapping,
