I keep it in a sling, and was just given some exercises to do a week ago. The Dr. said it was a bad break (just below the ball, and a piece of the ball broke off), but I did not have surgery (no insurance.) I've been doing EFT for several months now, and have had terrific results for my fibromyalgia.

I have been less successful with the constant pain I've had since this accident. Any suggestions would be welcome.

Anytime you make a pain go away with EFT and it comes back, you have dealt with an issue, but there is more to deal with.

For example, what is it that you feel you are shouldering? What is a burden for you?

Also, according to Louise Hay's book, You Can Heal Your LIfe, headaches can have to do with invalidating the self. Self-criticism. Fear.

Hope something here is helpful.

Gratefully yours,

JoAnn

Re: Thanks for the suggestions....1 more question

Hello Marnica,

You may want to start by tapping on your frustration and confusion and, you may want to include in your set-up phrases, Even though:

I feel frustrated that I am getting nowhere with EFT...

I am not sure where to begin...

I am feeling a bit at a loss on how to do this...

I am feeling confused about where to start with EFT...

Then Tap and *** about all of your frustrations, confusion, etc. Tap about 7 times on each point and express whatever is in your mind--until you get it ALL out. Do it until you are almost bored.

Then stop and listen to your intuition. Is there an experience in your life that feels like a burden? One that is pulling you down, and you would rather not have? Choose ONE—be specific. Then tap on how you feel about that burdensome issue. Your shoulder may be acting as a barometer for feelings that you are stuffing. As you lower the intensity of the feelings—check how your shoulder feels, and see how if the pain in your shoulder is lessening.

When I first started doing EFT, I would tap on the pain directly. Sometimes that worked. What I found was that when that didn't work, I had to jump into the emotions that were underlying the pain.

After some rounds of tapping, ask your shoulder, “what is the message that you are trying to tell me?”

Please let me know if any of this helps.

Gratefully yours,

I am so glad that you haven't given up on EFT. You are correct in realizing that you have given up too quickly in the past. Even though you haven't seen results, you have been practicing. Not it is time to get to the bottom of things and get some results that you can see.

According to Louise Hay, the shoulder represents our ability to carry out experiences in life joyously. It sounds like your fears about birth are really pulling on you strongly. I would use EFT to deal with those emotions, and as you see the intensity of those emotions drop, my hunch is that your shoulder pain will dissapate. Also, you want to get to your biggest fear that you may even be a afraid to verbalize (but your subconscious is running with these thoughts and feelings). Here are some set-up phrases that you can use for starters...

Even though:

I don't think EFT will work for me, I deeply and completely love and accept myself

I am terrified of giving birth...

I am afraid that my labor is going to be horrific, and that I won't be able to handle the pain...

I don't know what is going to happen during the birth, and that scares the (cuss word) out of me...

I don't know what to do with EFT...

I am scared shitless about giving birth...

These are just a start. After you start tapping on the above statements about your fears about all of the pain and what could go wrong with the BIRTH, and you feel that you have exhausted it all, then you can go on to another issue, for example, your concerns about being a first time mother.

It is so important to get to what is UNDER the issue. I worked with a mom-to-be for an hour on her fear of giving birth for the first time. In that hour we dealt with her fear of home birth, of going to the hospital, of it being a long birth, etc. After an hour, I realized that we hadn't really gotten to the bottom of it all. Her BIGGEST fear was of having a fucked up baby. Since I knew that she was OK with cussing, and that terminology was a good fit for her, it easily brought down the intensity that she had. Every time that she tapped and said fucked up baby as a reminder phrase—she cracked up with laughter. She ended up having her first baby at home in 6 hours without any fear.

I honor you for not giving up.

Please keep me posted.

Gratefully yours,

two ideas on pain seem too have distillled themselves into my awareness:

1. Pain is resistance.

and

2. Pain is fear trying to leave the body

I'd love to hear others thoughts on these concepts....

The way that I would approach your situation:

assess the pain level in your neck—give it a SUD (intensity) level

assess the pain level in your left shoulder—give it a SUD (intensity) level

assess the pain level in your head (where is the pain specifically)—give it a SUD (intensity) level

Was there a traumatic event that happened before the pain started? Was there some kind of upset before or around the time of getting the temp job. If there was, I would get in touch with the emotion that you have about that event and check the SUD level for that emotion. Then I would use the movie technique and clear the emotion that you associate with the event. Then I would check the SUD level in your neck, shoulder, and head

Something you can look at is the feelings that you had when you got your temp job as another possibility. Do you have any negative feelings about your work or going to work?

According to Louise Hay in You Can Heal Your Life, shoulders “Represent our ability to carry out experiences in life joyously. We make life a burden by our attitude.” If this hits home, you could use:

Even though life is a burden, I deeply and completely love and accept myself.

So, if you work on feelings and traumatic events—then you can check your achy areas and see if there is an improvement. You could work on the individual aches, one at a time, too. Something to understand about EFT, is there is no one way.

Cara, please let me know if this helps at all.

Gratefully yours,

JoAnn

Re: frozen shoulder pain

Hello,

Congratulations on your success with EFT so far!

You are on the right track when you are getting down to the feelings that you have buried in your shoulder. Besides the bitterness that you mention, I would imagine that there is some anger there, too.

Many times people carry burdens on their shoulders. So, if that fits, you may want to tap on the heavy burdens that you felt there. During your exploration of your stories you may even find that their are prior events that have colored your experience with your shoulder--from when you were a child.

I just did a typo and realized that should is the base word of shoulder. You might examine your shoulds, and see if there is anything there to tap on.

Also, I find if you AMP things up, and be louder and even CUSS. That many times, this will help move STUCK energy.

When you get your SUDS down to a 3 or less, you may want to affirm, " I choose to allow all my experiences to be joyous and loving."

Please let us know how things go.

Gratefully yours,

JoAnn
