As you mentioned when you were younger you had those negative experiences with your father, which in a sense created what you are experiencing right now. I believe that you need to learn from this, see yourself in a different light and taake control. You are no longer the little helpless child you are an adult now that can take care and stand up for yourself, but your subconscious does not know there is a time change. if you do not correct this situation, the same thing will continue to appear in future situations, until you make the neccesary connections and changes. EFT and Affirmations can be very helpful. At least from my perspective. Take care of yourself. Try some gentle loving "child within work" also. Good luck. You deserve better. Lorraine Blum

Re: But I don't deeply and completely accept myself...

I've had some people ask me about the 'setup' and particularly the
deeply (love) and completely accept myself part, and why do you say it
3 times, etc?

I am so used to doing it and seeing it done on
the DVD's, reading it in articles, etc. that I just did it and
explained the PR part of it. Then I decided to look at the book by
Roger Callahan that got me into EFT, Tapping the Healer Within. You
know what? For treating PR, all he has someone do if the TFT algorithm
doesn't work is tap the KC point 5 or 7 times. No affirmation or
anything.

So, I decided to try doing the 'setup' differently --
tap the KC point 5-7 times while stating the issue or emotion and then
add an affirmation or choice statement, if you want or it seems
appropriate. (i.e. I have a fearful feeling in this memory and it doesn't feel good) In the last 2 weeks since I decided to try it, it's worked
fine for me personally and another practitioner I mentioned it to tried
it, worked fine for her. And I've tried it with 3 or 4 clients and it's
worked fine. Of course starting off with 'even though I have this issue...' has become such a habit that it's a little trickier to come up with the setup statement.

It also saves a little bit of time during each round, and it does away with the issue of self-acceptance or not. I think I'm going to change my tapping points / instructions on my website, even. Of course doing away with that part of the setup might be EFT heresy? Please don't stone me. :-)

making a mistake on the affirmations when doing tapping, could it cause negative side effects?

hey guys love how all you guys work together to help each other out, thats a beautiful thing.

i was doing some tapping and im not sure if i made a mistake on the positive affirmation. the type of mistake that i might have done is a common one that we all make when we have a conversation with somebody. the mistake that im talking about is like the one were you want to say "it will not do that" but you just make a simple mistake and say "it will do that" because you just forgot, missed, or you got distracted and missed the not part. a simple mistake that im pretty sure everyone makes in a conversation but it just so happen to happen to me while i was tapping. so my question is if when you are saying any affirmation, setup phrase, or reminder phrase and youre tapping along then you make a mistake like the one i explained above, can it have some counter productive effects on you?

to put it more understandable say you are tapping and youre using a positive affirmation that goes like "i am not a bad person" but then you mess up and say "i am a bad person". its not like you wanted to say that but you just missed, forgot, or got distracted and you didn't say the "not" part of "i am not a bad person". something like this happen to me and although i don't feel bad or feel like some negative effects are on me i just have this anxious worry of what if so can you guys help me out please.

Hi Kimberly,

As with most things... two people can say or hear the exact same thing and have TOTALLY different meanings attached to it. So, I think it is very individual.

It's what we associate with something that really counts... or in Law of Attraction, what vibration it triggers or evokes from us. i.e. If we have a lot of negative 'stories' or associations attached to a saying, then it could be highly charged for us in a negative way. The opposite is true too.

I personally find the statement fairly neutral. To me the phrase... 'plan for the worst' does not mean that I am settling or shooting for the worst, it just means I am okay either way. My goal is that my mood or vibration is not going to be affected by outside circumstances. And my ability to center myself is dependant on my response to what is going on around me. That's my take on it. :) Different from yours and we are both right :)

Blessings, Karen

Re: Can EFT help with weight gain?

I thought I'd leave my initial answer here however, I misread the question Maggz asked. It was about EFT to help gain weight NOT lose it and slow the metabolism down... NOT speed it up! See the continuation below :)

________________________________________________________________________________
know weight gain isn't normally associated with emotional issues
Hi Maggz,

As someone who has been helping folks with EFT for weight loss for quite a few years (first with hypnotherapy and now EFT)... I actually misread your first sentence. I thought you said weight normally *is* associated with emotional issues. I had to read what you wrote a second time ;)

Take a little time and search out a few weight loss articles on the main EFT site: www.emofree.com and you will discover that the majority of weight issues have an emotional root cause.

I know it may sound hard to believe at first because we have been so brain washed by commercials, the media, the main stream medical community AND the diet industry (which by the way only has a 5% success rate for keeping the weight off over a year... interesting) These EFT articles and testimonials will enlighten you (no pun intended) on this fascinating subject of EFT and weight loss.

There are also many good articles on EFT and Metabolism on emofree.com... just use the search feature and sit back for a good read.

Many weight issues actually have to do with emotional safety, i.e. "It is not safe to lose weight because..." I've heard 100's of variations on why the subconscious mind decides its not safe to lose weight/be slim. The primary job of our sc mind is to keep us safe, so it can really get in the act when it comes to body weight.

In these cases, the body will actually slow down its own metabolism, sometimes to a snails pace! Yes, strange but true our bodies are very powerful indeed! I have my own personal story around this. If you are interested in hearing just let me know. :)

Welcome to the wonderful world of EFT! Karen

P.S. The most powerful and effective time to use positive affirmations with EFT for weight loss is after the blocks to losing weight have been discovered and tapped on.

Although, positive affirmations can also be effectively applied before hand to flush out the 'tail enders' as Gary Craig calls them... which are the limiting beliefs and unprocessed emotions attached to the weight gain.

Re: Affirmations?

I agree - tap while you are saying the affirmations. And note if any "yes, buts" or as Gary says "tail enders" arise. Then "clear" those with EFT. Gary has written very eloquently that just doing affirmations alone tends to affirm the wrong thing - you affirm the tail enders rather than what you are trying to affirm. Tapping while you say the affirmations is far more effective. The trick is to use the process to discover the stumbling blocks, and then go back to the affirmation. Keep clearing until the tail enders are gone.

I understand tapping while stating the negative to release stored emotional energy and therefore release the unwanted belief/condition. I've often followed it up with Patricia Carrington's "choices" method - i.e. "I now choose to accept abundance in my life" and have tapped along the points while stating the affirmation.

My question is this: how does the body know you're tapping AWAY something or tapping something IN? Is it all just intention? I just got worried that my body might think that I'm trying to tap AWAY abundance or something. :)

If it is intention or vibration, do I have to get myself into a really abundant feeling state before tapping in a choices statement?
