EFT was originally developed to reduce the therapy process from months/years down to minutes/hours. As emotional problems faded, both physical health and personal performance improved (often dramatically). As a result, EFT is spreading quickly among the healing community. It is an emotional version of acupressure wherein certain meridian release points are gently stimulated by tapping on them with the fingertips.

    Smoking

I am about to quite smoking and have been quite systematic about addressing all the issues I have around it. Quick question - is there a quick form of eft I can use for cravings? Or do I need to do the set up and a whole round of tapping every time? Thanks, Linda

Linda - I'm hoping someone with first hand experience with this will reply to your post, but in the meantime here's a few ideas.

A lot of people seem to have a point that really works for them, and you can find it just by experimenting.  For many it seems to be the collar bone point.  You could try simply focusing on your cravings and tapping on that point and see what happens.  The setup isn't always needed, it just depends on whether all of your energy is flowing in the direction towards healing at any one moment.  The best way to know whether you need to do the setup is to try tapping without it and see what happens.  If after tapping a few rounds you don't feel any change at all, you are likely to need to throw the setup into the mix.  But it's very likely that because you will be totally tuned in to your craving in the moment, and because you are being so systematic with addressing surrounding issues, that you won't need the setup to deal with the cravings.  And if you find a point in particular that works for you, just do that.

One short combo you might want to play with is collarbone, karate point, gamut.  Just see if that sequence of three does it for you, sometimes it can.

BTW - on a non EFT related point - Alan Carr in his book about smoking recommends that you change your language and instead of saying "I am about to quit smoking" (which gives the message that you are giving up something that you want), that you say "I am going to stop smoking".  It's a subtle difference but I've heard for some people that it makes a big difference.  It can help the subconscious to feel like it is aiding you in something you want to do rather than something you think you should. :0)

    Very best wishes,

    Jo

Thanks for that Jo, I'll give your ideas a try. You make a good point about quitting/stopping - I'm certainly trying not to say "giving up" for that same reason. Thanks, Linda
