Tracey - it's great you've discovered EFT, it's a seriously cool way to be empowered with your health. There are different approaches to forming the phrases with EFT, here are some of the ways you can go about it:
1. Using the Basic Recipe. This is what Suzanne described in her posting above and is definately the best way to start. As you tap note any thoughts or feelings or sensations that come into your mind or body and then "follow the trail" by tapping on them. When you tap and stay open to the flow of what comes up, your subconscious will direct you on where to go next. So for example if you are tapping using Suzanne's phrase and you suddenly start thinking about someone in your life who you are very irrirated with, then in the next round you could make a phrase with that, something like:
Even though I'm so irritated with X and I have this sinus thing happening, I deeply and completely love and accept myself.
2. Sitting down and writing as if you are writing a letter to a good friend you haven't seen for a while, describing what is going on in your life and how you feel about it, then taking each phrase from the letter and turning that into a tapping phrase. Here are some possible ideas you could write on to help get the flow going:
- Describe the challenge you are having in as much detail as you can
- How does it feel to have this challenge in your life?
- What is your theory as to why you still have this challenge in your life?
- When did the problem first occur in your life?
- What was happening at that time (see above question)?
- What fears, worries or concerns do you have in relation to this issue?
- Is there anything else that comes to mind as you write about this that you could include?
3. Finding the core issues. If the Basic Recipe approach doesn't resolve an issue on it's own (it very often does but not always), then you need to take a bit more of an investigative approach, by looking at possible emotional contributors to the issue. The key way to do this is to ask yourself what was going on in the 6 or so months leading up to you FIRST getting the sinus pain, and then tapping on anything that arises. For example if you think back and realise that the sinus thing started in October 1995, then look back at the few months leading up to that. An example might be that someone realises that the 6 months leading to that date were spent in a battle with an ex over something and that they were really irrirated by everything their ex did. In that case you would find phrases about how you were feeling and link them to the sinus thing, something like:
Even though I was so irritated with X and those few months were so difficult and I ended up with this sinus thing, I deeply and completely love and accept myself.
EFT Master Carol Look as come up with an excellent series of questions that can help with this sort of exploration, if you'd like to try using them you can find them here.
Tracey:Also, on another issue..I have been in remission from sarcoidosis for 2 years now. I know that it is something that can come back with a vengence and I don't want it back! Should I tap to make sure it stays gone?
If you are concerned about the possibility of it coming back, then I would certainly recommend tapping on any fears and things you've been told about it. In this sort of case I'd suggest an approach of:
1. Write down all your fears and concerns then tap on each one. When you have exhausted this list, go on to the next step.
2. Imagine yourself in 10 years time. Really get detailed with your imagination, see yourself as really healthy and so thankful that the sarcoidosis hasn't returned. Be very mindful of any hesitation in doing this, if there are any concerns that creep in, go back to Step 1 with them then return to this step. If you can imagine yourself really well in 10 years time, and clear any doubts to being so, you will be. :0)
Happy tapping,
Jo
