EFT was originally developed to reduce the therapy process from months/years down to minutes/hours. As emotional problems faded, both physical health and personal performance improved (often dramatically). As a result, EFT is spreading quickly among the healing community. It is an emotional version of acupressure wherein certain meridian release points are gently stimulated by tapping on them with the fingertips.

    Reticular Activation System

To most around here must be familiar Gary´s concept of our antenna, related to the reticular formation or reticular activation system. In regards to this function, would anyone have solid factual information on how this part of our brains processes information as to create this effect? The information I´ve found is related more to sleeping cycles and sensory information retrieval and barely mentions it´s role on consciousness in the vein Gary suggests in his videos. More accurate information on this regards would be of tremendous assistance. Thanks for the pointers. a.

    Hi Atom

In the book "The Answer" by John Assaraf and Murray Smith they refer to the "Psycho Cybernetic Mechanism".  They explain what this is and how it works and it sounds pretty much like what Gary calls his antenna.  Good luck,

    Re: Reticular Activation System

    Hi Atom,

I'm not sure what Gary's concept of "antenna" is,  but I do know a little about the Reticular Activating System (RAS).  First, the RAS acts as a sensory filter in that it is involved in what information we attend to or not.  It helps filter (or gate) other information that enters are brain - information that is less relevant to us.

Second, the RAS also sends fibers to several parts of our brain.  It has an excitatory or stimulating effect on these other regions.   A drop off in RAS activity will actually decrease the function of the Frontal lobe.  For us to maintain consciousness, the RAS needs to be active  - it is critical for basic arousal.

    Hope this helps.

    Ed
