EFT was originally developed to reduce the therapy process from months/years down to minutes/hours. As emotional problems faded, both physical health and personal performance improved (often dramatically). As a result, EFT is spreading quickly among the healing community. It is an emotional version of acupressure wherein certain meridian release points are gently stimulated by tapping on them with the fingertips.

    Re: EFT & bodybuilding ?

    Hi Milanche,

Thanks for reaching out to the forums.  I love this use of EFT - vastly underutilized in my opinion.

Here's a few ways I use EFT in my fitness program is to:

    1) Tap on staying focused in my program in an ongoing way.  A friend of mine quotes Arnold Schwarzenegger saying "One lift with the breath is worth ten without it."  In other words, focus is key element of elite fitness and EFT works great to increase focus.  Tap on feeling of distractions, low energy, rather be somewhere else, etc

    2) Tap on pain/ slight injury.  Injuries are part of any athlete's journey.  With EFT, you can tap on the small pains before they turn into anything larger and prevent progress.

    3) Diet.  Anyone worth her/his salt in fitness world knows that diet is key part of bodybuilding program.  Tap on cravings for foods that sabotoge your fitness gains, feelings of being "too busy" to make healthy meals, etc.

Look forward to hearing from others.

    Blessings,

    Paul

    Hi,

I'm doing this myself with great ease - there are plenty of examples on my blog in my signature - you're welcome to print them out to use.

    Re: EFT & bodybuilding ?

One more question, i find some stuff realeted with hypnosis and muscle work...

Research Proves the Mind Body Muscle Increase! Studies at Manchester University in England showed dramatic results in just one week with participants doing only HYPNOTIC exercises. The group that did the real exercise (for the same amount of time as the hypnosis group), increased the size and strength of the targeted muscle 30%.
The group who did ONLY the hypnosis exercise increased the size and strength 16%.

This is important. Here's why. More than 50% of the muscle increase is obtained from the mental state that supports it. The messages from the subconscious mind are powerful enough to command the muscles to grow by feeding the cells what they need. And this is without moving a muscle.
Cellular Memory (you have heard Depak Chopra talk about how important this is and how easily it is manipulated) is handed down from dying cells to newly forming cells. If nothing changes, the dying cell gives the new cell the same memory. The new cell is formed in the same way as the old one.

This is WHY hypnosis works. Hypnosis targets the transfer of information as the new cell is forming, creating a new cellular memory. Without the hypnosis boost, as you workout, the cellular memory will change and you will grow- over time. When you use hypnosis you accelerate the cellular memory change. The cells are programmed to increase size and strength immediately, instead of waiting months for each cellular exchange to gradually change the muscles.

    Yup.

I did this with clients using EFT and it worked.  And I can lift 2.5-10 kg more with EFT than without EFT.  What's more, the effect is lasting, so I'm really pleased.

    Milanche

This is a different type of body building but since it did not involve anything I did differently in terms of exercise or lifting weights I think it might be an even more impressive outcome of using EFT for changing our body shape.  Its an article Gary Craig asked me to write for emofree.com after I answered a request for case studies on this subject.

    http://www.emofree.com/Articles2/enhance-figure-gillian.htm

I have additionally been using EFT to be able to learn all sorts of sports, and as movement was a challenge for me, this has not been a straightforward task.  Like Suzanne I have been using EFT to enhance my performance and the latest thrill is that I have decided to work on strength so that I could ski and keep up with my boys, as we have a week coming up in France and then two weeks holiday of a lifetime (s far) in Vail, Colorado at Easter and I am not going to be left behind.

I started this by trying to hill climb in Scotland at the beginning of summer.  It was horrible and felt like a nightmare going up and even worse coming down.  The only bit I enjoyed was the ridge along the top.  I EFTed every single emotion about this and also my resistance to exercise and then did some dedicated exercise with the ingenious help of my wii Active programme.  The exercises on this were the exact ones I needed and  I climbed more mountains in Scotland and England this summer and tapped on every single issue that came up for me with the result that now my legs are very strong, have totally changed shape and yesterday I climbed a mountain and ridge of over 3000 foot, for seven miles, some of it pretty steep up and down, and alot of it on scree, in 4 hours and do not feel an ache anywhere.   I am now loving  it and the meditation of my boots, pole and the mountain is just the best thing. I used to find it very difficult as my husband really gets into it and sorts out everything in his own head, quietly and I love to talk things through out loud so silent walking was to put it honestly 'doing my head in'  but then I started to tap on all the ridiculous thoughts I had during these endeavours and now my head leaves me in peace!  I never believed this would be possible.  I have now aim to join the Munro Baggers club, 6 down 197 to go:)

Without EFT this would not have been possible for me as a few years ago I had very severe fibroymyalgia syndrome and could hardly walk down the path, never mind climb huge mountains.  I did once try hypnosis for skiing nerves but it doesn't go deep enough.  Telling myself, or being told to to relax etc was not enough, I needed to get to the core issues behind my fear and beliefs that I couldn't do it.  It is only this weekend that I can genuinely look down a steep hill and not get any emotion or response anywhere in my body, but rather plan my descent and how I would do it.  This can only improve skiing even more:)  The concept however of visualising what we want is very important, see your goal and then observe all your thoughts and beliefs about reaching it.

    OK...

    Some suggestions are:

Sit down or lie down and imagine yourself doing the exercise whilst your muscles are getting bigger.  Just tap without words whilst visualizing and feeling this happen. Or you can tap something like "My muscles are growing stronger now, I deeply love myself"

Then when you actually do the exercise, you can tap things like:

    Setup:

"I can do this, I deeply love and accept myself"

Reminder (one phrase on each point):

"I can do this, yes I can, I'm like Superman! I'm the hero, I'm the one who can" (I also visualize being the hero in cartoons when I do this - OK the secret is out, I'll never live this down LOL!)
