EFT was originally developed to reduce the therapy process from months/years down to minutes/hours. As emotional problems faded, both physical health and personal performance improved (often dramatically). As a result, EFT is spreading quickly among the healing community. It is an emotional version of acupressure wherein certain meridian release points are gently stimulated by tapping on them with the fingertips.

    New Excited EFT'er

Hello There, I am new to EFT and just ordered the DVD's which arrived 3 days ago and I have been moving right along. I first started tapping about 2 weeks ago when I came upon a website that really inspired me regarding the benefits on self-esteem (confidence) with EFT. So I went to emofree.com and downloaded the manual and read it through and started tapping on various things. I'll try and make this a nut shell version but it is a little complex. I have adrenal insufficiency which entails a whole host of symptoms and issues. I've been doing ALOT for my healing including fasting and cleansing and have made alot of progress but interestingly MOST of my symptoms are emotionally based. As anyone familiar with adrenal issues the entire hormonal and endocrine system is involved which includes production of important hormones and neurotransmitters. Now to my quesions: where to start ? ? ? Do I tap for each symptom? (insomnia, depression, anxiety, nausea, wieght loss, loss of appetite, low libido, pms, crying, ect) or do I tap for the whole endocrine issue? I also have certain emotional issues I'm sure that are linked to the physical condition such as much need confidence in all areas of life, insecurity and jealousy, a need to stand up for myself, speak my truth, feeling like I'll be betrayed ect . . . I'm really making this brief there is alot I could add but I think this gives the basic idea. The day after I tapped along with Dave and the water and everything that was on that CD I noticed a big change in depression. Its been fairly good since then but now my cycle is begining and I don't feel well because of that. I'm also taking hydrocortisone which masks symptoms so sometimes I don't know where I'm at. The good news is that I'm weaning off of it and am 1/2 my starting dose which I feel AWESOME about. I believe that EFT just from what I have experienced is going to be an integral part of my healing. I'm just overwhelmed about where to begin, where to focus and how to measure progress with so much going on. Other notes: I'm definitely PR and believe that why I've had this adrenal thing for SO long. I've also had problems with addictions to substances and had depression since an early age. I"ve been tapping everyday when I get emotionally upset with something which is often and I've also been tapping for depression, adrenal fatigue, confidence ect. Any help appreciated. Thank YOu

    Hi NEE,

Welcome to EFT and the world of tapping!

    In my experience...

Unhappy adrenals+confidence issues+addictions+depression = a lot of childhood events where it was not safe to be you or many childhood events where a big emotion is fear.

    So, the simple formula is:

       1. Ask yourself for one incident in childhood which when you think about it now, makes you feel unsafe or fearful.
       2. Tap on it until all feelings about this incident are zero.
       3. Then, and only then, test that it really is zero by vividly imagining it. If not down to zero, EFT again, and carry on until it is zero.
       4. Go back to 1 and find another event.

Keep going like this until all incidents that come to you are zero.

It is definitely nowhere near a one-session thing, so be kind to yourself and persevere; you will be pleasantly surprised with your progress  :-)

    Re: New Excited EFT'er

Thank you Suzanne for your response! Yes you have hit the nail on the head. I know the adrenal situation started when I was quite young - I was raised in an alcoholic home. And the key word you say is "SAFE". It never was safe therefore 'fear' became a way of life for me. And it truly was not safe for me to be me. I walked on egg shells constantly to keep the peace. I was essentially the peacemaker in the family. When I think about a childhood its hard for me to recall events. It always has been. It seems like weren't specific events (though I know they are there) but more like the woven fabric of my existance. And I don't have alot of feelings that I can associate with strongly from being scared as a child. But this truly is the key the whole adrenal condition and lack of confidence stems from 'fear'. I have many incidents from present and adulthood that have been strong triggers for fear and insecurity and these are the emotional upsets I've been tapping on when they occur - in particular in my relationship with my significant other. Thats what has been so painful for me is that I've attracted someone who truly loves me and is TRUSTWORTHY and definitley a person of integrity but I'm CONSTANTLY triggered over things and very insecure and jealous. I will go back to childhood and do my best to recall 'specific' events and instances that I can tap on. I think I've done alot of repressing because there just isn't much 'feeling' back then. Thank you again for the formula. I think this is really key - its just getting there. Blessings Sage

    Hi Sage,

Thanks for your enthusiasm and being willing to explore your safety issue.  I think Suzanne has given you a great start.  In addition, you can also take the "emotional upsets" and "triggers" and work back.  For instance, when you are feeling triggered, ask yourself:

    • If this feeling could talk, what would it say?
    • If this feeling reminded me of a time in my life, what would that be?
    • If this feeling reminded me of a person in my life, who would that be?

Sometimes when there are lots of in the present triggers, it's helpful to just start with what's up, find the core issues (as shown in the DVD's) and then collapse them.  This will both clear the old feelings you talk about repressing plus reduce the reactivity in the present.

It's great to have you hear Sage.  Keep tapping!
