EFT was originally developed to reduce the therapy process from months/years down to minutes/hours. As emotional problems faded, both physical health and personal performance improved (often dramatically). As a result, EFT is spreading quickly among the healing community. It is an emotional version of acupressure wherein certain meridian release points are gently stimulated by tapping on them with the fingertips.

Re: Addiction to sugar and toxins

Hi Rachel, I don´t avoid sugar at any cost. Small amounts of it in a food don´t give me problems. It´s just the really sweet stuff, that I don´t deal with well. And with white flour, it´s also a matter of mass as well as "concentration" - when it´s "diluted" with different food items it is much better. Pure white-flour-stuff doesn´t get me to the point of being satieted and satisfied, so it´s not so much of a pleasant experience. Having had enough orthorexic tendecies in my life, I don´t aim at eating "healthily" (according to what is generally seen as "healthy"). I aim at listening to my body - this works the better the clearer my energetic and emotional state is. So that´s where Eft comes in big time. ........................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................... Hi Irisa, Did you ever try sitting with your craving in front of a bottle of sweet drink and tap on everything that comes up? - your craving, the resistance to letting the drinks go, the fears of being without this sweetness, the feeling of having nothing left then, the need for it, the physical signs you may feel - whatever is there. Really dare feeling the overwhelming intensity of this craving, sitting in front of this drink!

    Hi Kira,

I haven't tried what you suggested, I only tapped for the craving and the need for freshness, sweetness being the taste of life, the difficulty giving that up and related things. I must say the craving for sweet drinks is much less by now. It's worthwhile to try what you offered, though, because it may bring up interesting things. I'll try it.

    Thanks,

    Iris

    Hi Iris,

    All I can say is:

    • Try Kira's suggestion
    • Every now and then in the tapping, stop and take a little sip
    • Keep tapping like this and tell us what you notice!

I won't spoil it for you by saying any more  :-)

Re: Addiction to sugar and toxins

I myself also have struggled with a sugar addiction (which I think is also at the core of my alcohol issue as well) so I can get an idea of what you are experiencing with this particular issue.

EFT has helped me with many different areas, and plan to use this tool to also help me through this challenge.  What I think also might be helpful is a book I found specifically addressing sugar addiction.  The book explained sugar addiction quite thoroughly and helped me understand WHY I was addicted and how to move past the addiction.  The name of the book is Potatoes Not Prozac by Kathleen DesMaisons (the follow-up books is called The Sugar Addict's Total Recover Program).

    Hi Alanna,

Thank you.  I think this is just what I need in conjunction with EFT for my clients.

yes thank you for suggesting this book, and thank you iris and kira and everyone else for this thread. i've been reading now about sugar and about going brown and green, and on Noreen Barron's suggestion about the Rosedale diet and i'm beginnign to see (sorry it took me so long) a connection between mood and what we eat, especially the simple carbs.

I think what's so hard is

    a) a lot of denial and fear of discussing our current habits

    b) no workable plan to make good meals that our family members will agree to eat

    c) no confidence to do what our family members don't appreciate - linked to

    d) not good dialoguing between these family members.

    e) fear of life without sugar. Yes this is real. But it's not the only thing, as above.

    f) how to handle the stresses in life without sugar - a plan and confidence

g). What to do when you messed up and ate sugar

    h) unlinking joy and hunger from sugar. I mean, I still salivate at the thought of sugary cake.

    i) allowing a gradual process for switchover, adding positives before letting go of negatives.

    j) eating the right amount - but not too much - protein, and especially fish, which leads to

    k) learning to like and enjoy fish, legumes and vegetables. and

    l) learning how to manage to eat food that you don't quite love. It's OK!

Re: Addiction to sugar and toxins

    Hi Israel,

If you think that sugar is truly the problem, you may want to try an energy detox method mixed with EFT.  I would give you directions up to a certain point ok?  You need to get a compass and what it is for is that you may get best results if you had your back to the east, you be facing the west, there a reason behind this but I will not get into it here ok.

What you would need to do is get a very flimsy wooden dowel that is like 1/8 by 3 feet or have pendulum, either could be use a monitoring tool to show that energy is being drawn off your body into the withness, this case the withness will be some sugar and with some of the artificial stuff too. So like I said, the wooden dowel would be used to pull and monitor  the energy of the sugar as it is drawn from your body into the sugar. It best do the tapping with your left hand and the dowel would be held in the right hand.  Left hand receptor and right hand do the out putting of drain of energy.

So this is what you do use a compass so you be facing, face to the west and back to the east.  You rub both hands together till they are warm, then do the psychological reversal on yourself , and then you set to go to do a EFT session yourself.  So you do your tapping and say what you feel you need to say, after you tap on the corner of your left eye, then point your wooden dowel to the withness, that is a source of sugar with some of it artificial, and if the dowel show a lot of movement, this indicate that some of the energy of the sugar is drawn off that meridian point into the sugar. So you tap, hold the rod to the sugar and when dowel stop, keep going and going, and the object is do a full tapping session and keep doing those tapping points till when you hold the dowel over the sugar, it will not move. No movement over any of the tapping points, both eyes meridain ok?

So if you try this and it works for you, you would need to make a different kind of withness for toxins, and this is a easy to do thing ok?

With the energy of the sugar drawn off your body, you may find that you no longer crave it.  But too there are equally other reasons that can lead  an addition to sugar.  I will not go into some of therm now ok? But it it is sugar, this method may help you ok?

If this method works for you, please let me know.

    Take Care,

     Harry
