EFT was originally developed to reduce the therapy process from months/years down to minutes/hours. As emotional problems faded, both physical health and personal performance improved (often dramatically). As a result, EFT is spreading quickly among the healing community. It is an emotional version of acupressure wherein certain meridian release points are gently stimulated by tapping on them with the fingertips.

I live in Florida. Are there any legal requirements to be a practitioner? or anybody can say I am an EFT practitioner and start marketing him/herself?

In  my case I would be REALLY switching careers. I have a B.S in computer science, nothing related to health. do I need any health related diploma to become an EFT Practitioner

    Thank you for any insight

Hello, the answer is yes, anyone can, with the caveat that Gary Craig suggests of not going where you do not have the experience to go. Also, you need to do many, many individual sessions for training and do the the training videos. There is so, so much to learn beyond mechanical EFT, it is not the fast process that one might believe initially. You do not have to have any health related diploma to become an EFT Practitioner (though many do) although there may still be insurance considerations or you may need to have a disclaimer. I believe that there may be variations in different states. In California, you can work and practice as an energy healer, there is no licensure in the country as a whole. It falls into a similar category as life coaching. The EFT community as a whole is an incredible caring and giving community of people. If you love the results you have experienced and you want to help people... go for it!

I think I want to go as an energy healer, posibly getting reiki training as well to have something more popular under my wing.

I read, for example, that reiki helps when dealing with side effects of cancer treatment. Maybe I can volunteer at a hospital a couple times a week to get myself out there. I can inform my patients that additional sessions are x amount.

I need to do some research about switching careers. I feel a very special and powerful thing inside whenever I see alternative practitioners do their work. I know that is what I want to do.

Just by watching my new naturopathic doctor check my baby boy I felt elated.

I will make it work, somehow.

Any other tips are more than welcome!

Nancy's given a good overview.  In addition, I'd like to put a plug in for the certification process offered through this website (www.emofree.com).  As certifications go, it is affordable and helps build credibility.  You can find out more at http://www.emofree.com/ExamInfo/index.htm
