EFT was originally developed to reduce the therapy process from months/years down to minutes/hours. As emotional problems faded, both physical health and personal performance improved (often dramatically). As a result, EFT is spreading quickly among the healing community. It is an emotional version of acupressure wherein certain meridian release points are gently stimulated by tapping on them with the fingertips.

    EFT and Back Pain

I am new to EFT. I learned it a little over a month ago, and I've been doing it twice a day. Last week, after 20+ years of back pain, my back stopped hurting. I sat very still in my chair, afraid to move. Then, I moved just a little bit. No pain. I got up and walked around the house. No pain. This is such an immense relief to me!

    Mary Ann,

Thank you for reporting to us.  This is so inspiring.  You have obviously done a good job.

Maybe you could tell us what you tapped on? What was behind the back ache?

    Do spread the word...and welcome...

    Blessings,

    Fabienne

    Fabienne,

Yes, it was behind-my-back pain that I tapped on. That is what I started with. I've since added insomnia, head tremor, neck pain, and shoulder pain.

Hi everybody, I had back pain too, but only for 1,5 years. Tried many things but finally after 2 sessions with EFT it was over. So yes, it sure does work ! In my case the problems were stress... we moved, changed job, got a first baby. Those feelings are corrected now. Stefaan

    Re: EFT and Back Pain

I have literally copied and pasted for you from a book I wrote for my clients. I hope it translates well.

    What You Feel

What irritates you?  What weighs you down?  Do you carry  the world on your shoulders?  Who just can't get off your back?  What do you find a pain in the neck?

Time and time again, I find that there is an emotional component to joint pain.  It may be big or it may be small, but eliminating it is the easiest part for most people.

Muscles have a memory.  Your muscles can even be locked into an event that your conscious mind has long forgotten.

Your lymphatic system helps to move the chemicals your body makes in response to stresses such as fear or feeling angry.  If you produce more than your body can handle, it makes sense that it can increase pain.

So, ask yourself: What irritates me?  Common emotional pain components are listed below.

An event that preceded or accompanied the pain, such as a physical accident or an emotional event.

    • Rejection
    • Fear
    • Unexpressed anger

For each of these emotions, list 1 separate actual event that typify these emotions.  For example, Mary’s rejection events are:

    • The time when Laura and Errol ambushed her outside school and stole her phone.
    • The time when Mary’s ex John said he wanted to finish their relationship.
    • The last time that Mary’s mother was dismissive in a phone conversation.
    • Last Tuesday in the restaurant when the waiter put Mary at the worst table.
    • Two years ago in January when Mary got sacked from her job.

Now list yours.  But we are not listing them just for insights.  We are listing them so that we can release them.  EFT is a great way to remove negative emotions.  If you don’t know EFT, get the FREE EFT Manual here:
    http://www.emofree.com

Now let us make EFT Statements for Mary’s rejection.  For simplicity, I will illustrate with the last example.

    Setup:
“Even though I got the sack from work in January two years ago, I deeply accept myself”

    Reminder:
“Getting the sack from work in January two years ago”

Mary taps on this specific incident until it has no intensity for her.  It may take one minute, one hour, or one month.  It does not matter how long.  Persistence and perseverance pay great dividends.  When this event has no intensity for Mary, she moves onto the next one, and so on.
And of course, when there is a pain that stubbornly reappears, Mary can use the following tapping until the pain subsides.  To use these statements for yourself, simply substitute for the body part.  For example, if the pain is on the right side of your neck, where it says “[body part where the pain is]”, substitute “right side of my neck”.

    Setup:
“Even though I have this pain in my [body part where the pain is], I deeply accept myself”

    Reminder:
“This pain in my [body part where the pain is]”

As well as working on specific events and pain, Mary can also use a positive EFT tapping each morning and night, just before waking and just before going to sleep, for four weeks.  She taps on all the points the following.

    Setup and Reminder:
“I choose to release all the emotional components of this pain and everything they remind me of.  I choose to do this until I am free from these emotions.  I allow healing to my mind and body.”

Advanced EFTers can also tap for foods, rehabilitation exercise, etc.  Or you may opt to learn how from the Serious Diseases EFT DVD sets.  If you don’t have them already, they are well worth the modest investment, from http://www.emofree.com

Now make up your own EFT protocol.

    Enjoy the release...

    Re: EFT and Back Pain

I had also a degenerative disk (L4 or L5) but with pain in my right leg. My doctor said it would take 2-3 years untill the disk would be completely gone. Hahaha, poor doctor... so trapped in western medicine.
EFT is very good for releasing emotional problems you are maybe not even aware of, but since it is already a physical problem, I think it's good to support the healing in a physical way too : drinking lots of water (no softdrinks or coffee!) to hydrate your body and bending your back backwards : in this way the disks have more space and by the underpressure they suck water in them. Do this many times a day for 5-10 seconds. And tap on the sore spot, face, collar bone, under your arm, side of your fingers,... the usual points.

Of course, never hurt yourself when bending, start little by little. If it hurts, go back straight slowly. It should never hurt. You can do this in your bed lying on your side, in this way your back doesn't has to carry all the weight.

And like Suzanne or Louise Hay are saying, work on locked-up feelings with EFT.

    Many flexible greetings, Stefaan

    Re: EFT and Back Pain

I've had trouble with ruptured cervical (neck) disks for 17 years, now, and had finally decided on havein surgery when I encountered EFT, just a few days ago. The posts on thie thread have given me new hope!!! I'm going to start tapping on this problem and see if it will clear up instead of being cut out!

    Blessings, mesa

Wow that's exciting to hear of your success with tapping on your back pain.

I had backpain from a cycling crash i was in. i spent a few years with that pain. I tapped on it for awhile and eventually I've been able to get off the pain meds with the help of my primary doctor. He's impressed.

Sometimes the pain returned but i thought about the emotional charge and how it may have aggravated it as I've said before and then tapped on those and continued with the Personal Peace Procedure and now the pain is very much in the past. :-)

     Keep on keeping on!
