EFT was originally developed to reduce the therapy process from months/years down to minutes/hours. As emotional problems faded, both physical health and personal performance improved (often dramatically). As a result, EFT is spreading quickly among the healing community. It is an emotional version of acupressure wherein certain meridian release points are gently stimulated by tapping on them with the fingertips.

    Pain at base of spine

I am a new user and find that the EFT reduces the pain for a short time but it keeps coming back, any ideas?

Re: Pain at base of spine

Hello, and welcome to the forum!

It's great that you're getting results... now if you could just get them to stick, right?  :-)

You haven't provided us much information up front, so I need to ask, do you know specifically what's causing the pain?  Do you have any medical understanding about why you have the pain?  Just as an example, I once developed a reasonably serious back problem because (unbeknownst to me) the geometry of the seats in my new car was faulty.  I spent six months thinking my back problems had been caused by stress, only to find out that two other people I'd met with the same vehicle had both decided to get rid of it for the same reason -- it messed up their backs.  So there's always the possibility that something specific is causing the problem.  If so, you'll need to correct that problem before EFT can have lasting effects.

Now, if your pain is not being caused by something mechanical like that, the most important thing is to try to identify any emotional issue(s) underlying the pain.  EFT will always give some relief if we just apply it "mechanically" which is just tapping, and saying "this pain at the base of my spine."   But now what you want to do is probe your mind for emotional issues related to it.  For example, ask yourself what was happening for you at the time the pain began?  It could have been something that happened that very day, or 1 week, or several weeks before the pain began.  I would specifically look for something related to fear or guilt.  Depending on its location, many times pain in the lower back will relate to issues of physical or financial insecurity, or a limiting belief that you won't be able to stand on your own.

       - How are you reacting to this pain?  Are you angry; are you afraid; are you frustrated?  Are you concerned because you don't know what it is?

       - Is this pain causing you to not do things you need to do?  Or is it just "a pain in the butt"?  Is there a certain person you've been having to deal with who's been "a pain in the rear-end"?

Give this some thought, and feel free to let us know what you come up with.

    Blessings,

     - Leigha
