EFT was originally developed to reduce the therapy process from months/years down to minutes/hours. As emotional problems faded, both physical health and personal performance improved (often dramatically). As a result, EFT is spreading quickly among the healing community. It is an emotional version of acupressure wherein certain meridian release points are gently stimulated by tapping on them with the fingertips.

    Great success!

I heard about EFT from a friend in Germany and got all the information I have on line and from a book published in Germany.  I have had forever a problem with overeating. I'm now 64 and cannot count how many diets I have tried over the years always with the same result: Lost weight and gained it back. Last Christmas I weight 110kg (242 pounds).  I tried EFT with the setup: "Even so I have that constant urge to go into the fridge...."  With a few rounds for a couple of days I was able to cut out completely to eat into between meals without any problem and cut down my portions;  I also have developed different taste and eat a lot more salats (instead of pasta!). I do eat what I feel like eating, don't "deprive" myself of anything. (I have always eaten rather healthy food) I  lost 16kg (35 pounds) but right now I'm on one of those infamous plateaus. I want to loose 20kg more to be at the weight I used to be "at my best" and I try with the setup: "my weight is 75kg;  that's what I weigh!"

Any better suggestions? I would be very happy to hear them.

Re: Great success! - Weight Loss Plateau

    Hi Elisabeth!

Congratulations on your weight loss success to date!

It can be very confusing thinking we've finally found the weight loss cure with EFT or a great new diet and then be STOPPED dead in our tracks!

Many times, I have found with clients and even with myself... a weight loss plateau is caused by a subconscious decision that it is not safe or desirable to go below a specific weight.

It may sound strange to stop ourselves from getting what we want however, there is unconscious primitive part that may think it is not good to go below a particular amount or weight set point. This is our primitive 'survival self' taking over when it perceives a safety or protection issue.

    After asking some probing questions, I've heard many things from clients. Here are some examples;

    - "If I lose more  weight then I'll be attractive to men and relationships scare me!"

    - "If I continue losing weight I'll need to struggle to keep if off... because I always gain it back!"

    - "If I lose more... I will be better than my sister, mother etc and that is not a good thing!"

    - "If I lose more weight my husband will feel I am too self empowered and he'll get upset"

    - "If I lose more and gain energy, I'll be expected to do more, work harder, be more responsible."

We all have our own underlying reasons for getting stuck. To help you discover what might be holding you back, try this.

Close your eyes and picture or feel yourself 20 lbs lighter or even just 10 lbs. Notice any tension or anxiety in your body even the slightest amount. If you get an uncomfortable feeling or body sensation, then it is likely you are dealing with a subconscious counter belief.

You can continue to tap on this tension or anxiety and see what comes up OR do some probing. Ask yourself... "What is the downside of losing more weight... What's the upside of staying this fat... Why might I feel unsafe or threatened at a lower weight?"

Let me know how it goes.

Good luck with your detective work!  Karen
