Some of us try to overload our short term memory. So a planning notebook, for example, is helpful. Also, when you use a planning notebook, you are showing your brain that new bits of info don't deserve to just get stuffed ANYWHERE in your brain, they have an entry place, a time, a date, and a plan. Some people who have had chronic stress - and some people seem to be born this way - have very inefficient brain filing systems. I know a kid that just guesses which word fits if the right one doesn't come into her brain. She just makes up words. She often mispronounces or misremembers names. I believe that she has a problem with memory storage. The more we can show that there are systems that work, externally, perhaps internally she too will be able to store memories successfully.

On a similar note, I always consider the EFT process to be a way of working on an improperly processed memory. If a memory is properly filed, it is in the past and stays there until consulted, it doesn't get triggered all the time. So EFT deals with those memories that we couldn't come to terms with at the time - and as a result they are improperly processed. It's like a library starting out with hundreds of books all over the floor. EFT helps you pick up those books and put them on the shelves. For some people, they also have to devise a filing system for the books that will work for the sorts of books they have in their library and according to the ones they will want to consult more frequently. Memory storage may not be a one size fits all, even in the brain. More advanced Experiencers may need a particularly modern system.

I also didn't have a great memory, but then I reframed it for myself. Things that I wasn't putting down in writing, to help me remember, were things that I was (subconsciously) choosing were not important enough for me to remember.

This was quite a shocking thought, but then I made peace with it. A traumatized system shouldn't feel obliged to live a 'normal' life, just doing everything that comes up for them! They have to look after themselves more, and not treat every appointment as if it is written in stone. Some, they have to be selective about saying NO, I want more time for myself.

Re: Have you tapped for a good Memory, Or can't you remember? :)

Just to reiterate what Gill said - stress can have a huge affect on memory. When I was really sick I got to the stage where I would open the fridge to get something out and by the time I'd opened the door I would have forgotten what I went to the fridge to get. I was sure I was losing my mind. Once I started healing my memory returned and it's back to being great again now. The way I see it is that when you are under stress, the body has to prioritise which parts of the brain to send energy to because it needs the energy to deal with other things. The memory isn't as critical as other parts of the body when we are stressed so it doesn't receive any energy and is inaccessible to us.

A poor memory can also be linked to a part of us not being ready to remember things at all. Keep going with the PPP and the tapping and if this is the case your memory will improve over time without you needing to do anything in particular to deal with it.

Best wishes,

Jan Luther, EFT Master. comforted me by telling me it took her 2 year to get her paperwork together after her son died so I don't panic, but right now my memory is shocking. So yes, I think you can tap for memory if stress or trauma has affected it..

If I remember correctly, I read/heard about a story where one woman's forgetfulness and poor memory was linked to an abortion she had as a young adult. Weird, but true.

Re: Have you tapped for a good Memory, Or can't you remember? :)

Arum
