EFT was originally developed to reduce the therapy process from months/years down to minutes/hours. As emotional problems faded, both physical health and personal performance improved (often dramatically). As a result, EFT is spreading quickly among the healing community. It is an emotional version of acupressure wherein certain meridian release points are gently stimulated by tapping on them with the fingertips.

    Stress when recording my performance

Could someone please compile a round of tapping including karate point, negative affirmations and positive statements to help me to record my singing without nerves getting the better of me.  Whenever, I sing casually, I rarely make any mistakes, but when I need to record my voice, I am aware that I am being recorded and can never make a perfect copy.  I am perfectionist and everything has to be just right, so it is so frustrating when I deliberately make mistakes under pressure.  I want to be relaxed when I record and happy with the finished product.

R & R, I think your message contains one major theme for you to tap on and that is your desire/need for perfection. I'd suggest you tap on that and explore why you feel it is important to achieve what you might agree is logically impossible. Doing your best is one thing, but becoming fixated on a perfect performance isn't the best route to allowing your talent to be shared and appreciated by others. Carol Look, in her work on abundance, has many references to perfectionionism and how it often sabotages our best efforts to achieve most things. You might want to explore her excellent contribution on that subject and how it might be affecting your singing. Any anxiety over commiting to a recorded version of your work is another area to explore.I know many gifted people who can speak in front of others, but balk at recoding their ideas and letting them go out and literally "speak" for them.

    Be well,

    Eric

Re: Stress when recording my performance

Sometimes we can be our own harshest critic. I look at each recording as a step. I practice, sometimes have a script....sometimes not, and it all works out. Sometimes a recording that isn't my favorite seems to resonate with lots of people. I recently had the opposite experience as you. I was speaking to a large group & had notes to refer to, which I usually don't do for this event. It didn't feel as spontaneous as previous years in the same situation. I have 3 other recordings to refer to from this event. When listening to the recording I sometimes wonder "Who is this wise person talking?" Oh, hey it's me!!! Guess I do know my subject AND I don't have to be perfect! Sometimes we just have to trust we are doing the best we can, otherwise we never accomplish any goals. Perfectionism is a myth that prevades society.

    Dear "Rose"

You gave us our first clue when you said, "I am perfectionist and everything has to be just right, so it is so frustrating when I deliberately make mistakes under pressure.  I want to be relaxed when I record and happy with the finished product."

Here are some suggestions.  They open the door to other aspects, but follow your strongest, most heavily charged feeling.  Only you know what door is best for you:

Even though I need to it to be 'just right', I can't make a mistake, I accept all my imperfections anyway.

Even though I'm a perfectionist, and I have to record perfectly, I accept myself anyway

Even though when I record myself, Im not relaxed, not happy, I accept my imperfections.  This is where I'm at right now. Imperfectly perfect.

Even though I have no confidence in my recording abilities, I choose peace within, I choose to give it my best shot.

Even though I don't trust myself not to be 'perfect', I need it to be perfect, maybe I can be ok with 'almost perfect'...

    Then tap through the sequence:

"I have to be perfect" and alternate with "no, I don't".

You might also ask yourself what does it mean about you if you're not perfect? What will people say about you? These can be clues to your hidden beliefs about your own imperfections.

I sense there are many aspects here - as there are for so many performers who seek to fully express themselves through music.  What is holding you back from being completely, utterly, imperfectly you?  What are you afraid may be exposed if you are not perfect?  Some of these answers will require gentle exploration.  Be good to yourself.  With diligent EFT, you will become a more confident, more fabulous recording artist!

    xo
