EFT was originally developed to reduce the therapy process from months/years down to minutes/hours. As emotional problems faded, both physical health and personal performance improved (often dramatically). As a result, EFT is spreading quickly among the healing community. It is an emotional version of acupressure wherein certain meridian release points are gently stimulated by tapping on them with the fingertips.

What Do You Do When You Dont Know The Core Issue?

     Stubborn Ball Of Foot Pain

I have been trying EFT on pain I have in the ball of my right foot.
I have taped my self to repeatedly for this with now change. Ive had
this pain for about 3 years. I work in a nursing home which calls for
a lot of walking so this pain makes doing my job extra hard, of which
Ive taped on this point, but nothing, pain still there.

Re: What Do You Do When You Dont Know The Core Issue?

    Hi Lesley,

Thank you for joining our forum.

I think that you ask a really good question, what do you do when you don't know the core issue? I would like to add that an EFT practitioner would help you get to what is underneath the pain in your foot by asking you questions.

Here are a few questions that might help you get to what is underneath the pain in the ball of your foot:

    • What traumatic event happened slightly before the pain started in your foot?
    • You might want to explore your emotions pertaining to work (Do you have any unsettled feelings about work or anyone at work?)
    • Do you have any misunderstandings with anyone at work?
    • What would be a benefit of your foot continuing to hurt? What old story about work would be fed by your foot hurting?

Leslie, see if any of these sef-up phrases might work for you, Even though:

    • there is part of me that doesn't want my foot to get better because I have a story that work is hard, and my foot hurting makes my job extra hard, I deeply and completely love and accept myself
    • EFT has worked for a lot of people, but I don't think that it will work for me because I have tried really hard...
    • I have a fear of the future, and of not stepping forward in life...

Try tapping on these and see if you get any thing coming up for you. Pay attention to the voice in your head.

Let me know if any of these ideas help.

     Gratefully yours,

    JoAnn

Re: What Do You Do When You Dont Know The Core Issue?

     Hi JoAnn,

Thank you for your response. There were three things that happened around the time my foot started to hurt. The facility I was working at was closing down the their large wing (where I worked), which made me and other people move over to the main building. The main building ran a lot different than the one I was used to working in, so I didnt want to make the move. Once there, I hated working there very much.

Also, in the middle of this move taking place, I had a family tragedy of my daughter's suicide. Six months later my grandmother died, she was in the same facility where I worked. It was a little after this that the pain started in my foot.

Could one of these be the issue, or could it be all of them collectively?

I will try your suggestions and see if they can make any change.

    Lesley

Re: What Do You Do When You Dont Know The Core Issue?

    Hi Lesley,

You are welcome! And thank you for your courage for sharing so deeply. Lesley, you definitely have some big emotional issues that could be related to the pain in your foot. I would tap on all three.

So, you might start with your job and your feelings about the move. Lesley, you want to make a list of all the things that you hated about having to go from the large wing to the main building. Also, how did you feel about it? Angry? Sad? Some set-up phrases could be, Even though:

    • I hated working at the main building, I deeply and completely love and accept myself

    • I didn't want to move to the main building, and I felt angry at management for not caring about me, I deeply and completely love and accept myself

    • I didn't feel that it was fair for management to shut down the large wing, and I felt _____________,... (fill in the blank here, then finish with: I deeply and completely love and accept myself)

Get to the bottom of how you felt by making a list of all the things that you didn't like about it and how each things made you feel. Let's say that anger is the main feeling that comes up for you. Measure your intensity level of the emotion (SUDS level) before you tap, and also note what the pain level is in the ball of your foot (get really specific as to the location of the pain). See how low you can drop the emotional intensity of your emotions--then check the pain level of the ball of your foot.

Lesley, losing both your daughter and your grandmother in just six months--I feel deep compassion for your extreme loss. When we have large traumatic losses like yours, it can be challenging to deal with all of the emotions AND go to work, too. The grief could create a lot of stress in your life (and appear as pain in your foot or some other symptom). My friend, you have had a lot to deal with. I am not sure that this forum can fully deal with all that you may have on your plate (what are the feelings that you have about your daughter's suicide? anger, despair, deep sadness, overwhelm... and then losing your grandmother?) What I know for sure is that whatever is going on, EFT can help you heal and move on. It may help your foot or help prevent something else from happening in your body.

If you don't know where to begin, Leslie, find an EFT practitioner that can help you work through ALL of your emotions.

    Gratefully yours,

    JoAnn

Re: What Do You Do When You Dont Know The Core Issue?

    Hi JoAnn,

Thank you so much for getting back to me. I have worked on your suggestions, but no change yet. I would love to go to an EFT practitioner, I know I have a lot to be worked on. But, practitioners are much higher than regular doctors, and per hour. I just dont have that kind of money at this time.

Im going to keep working with this my self. I plan to make a long list of bad emotions or situations I have had in my life and work with EFT on each one. Hopefully I can collapse a lot of things this way. I know it will take a while, but its worth it.

My hope is to get good enough to help other people. Im looking for a new way to make money because Im going to have to give up the job I do soon, my arthritis is getting to bad for it, and the working conditions of this job is not at all enjoyable anymore.

But I must first be able to make EFT work for me before I can have confidence to try and help someone else. I would love to work from home doing this, I just hope its not to far down the road :)

Re: What Do You Do When You Dont Know The Core Issue?

     Dear Leslie,

I learned how to do EFT by:

So, you can learn EFT and become an EFT practitioner! I know that you can do it. You might want to save up some money and treat yourself to a session with an experienced practitioner--to experience it more fully. A qualified practitioner can save you a lot of time. As you learn EFT, you can trade with someone else that is learning EFT to speed up your process. But, just do it!

I knew that I was on to something when I started to see that I was helping people with problems that had haunted them for years. By tapping on myself, every time that I worked with someone, I was giving myself an EFT session. At first, I was afraid that I couldn't successfully do an EFT session because I was suffering from brainfog from lyme disease. I had really a big problem with my short term memory. So, a secondary benefit that I got from tapping on myself each session, is that my memory is much better and continues to get better and better.

Leslie, you don't need to wait to start helping people. Start with yourself, family and friends. Results will happen. I know you can do it if you put your passion into it—even though you have a job. In fact, maybe your current job will fuel you in learning and sharing EFT with others--knowing that you are creating a new, meaningful career that you can do the rest of your life.

Please keep me posted as to your successes.

    Gratefully yours,

    JoAnn

Re: What Do You Do When You Dont Know The Core Issue?

     Hi JoAnn,

Thank you for the encouragement. I have downloaded Gary's free manual and I have the first two sets of his DVDs which are wonderful. I also joined the myGenie website with David Childerley with the marvelous videos that he makes for his members.

This is something that I would love to do, and I thank God that there is so much help here online to help me along the way.

I to suffer from  this brainfog as you call it (good name for it) lol. Mine came along with menopause and is a most frustrating thing, but Ive learned to deal with it and I hope mine to gets better while using EFT.

I will keep you posted to any break throughs I have, I know I can do this :)

    Lesley
