Emotional Freedom Techniques

EFT was originally developed to reduce the therapy process from months/years down to minutes/hours. As emotional problems faded, both physical health and personal performance improved (often dramatically). As a result, EFT is spreading quickly among the healing community. It is an emotional version of acupressure wherein certain meridian release points are gently stimulated by tapping on them with the fingertips.

Ideas for an EFT workshop for children/parents

    Hi all,

I originally posted this on the "EFT4kids" forum, but thought I'd post it here also.

I was just asked by a local Performing Arts center to do a workshop for parents and their children.  I'm going to entitle it "Empowering your child".  I can easily work with individuals on issues, but was hoping to do tapping with everyone.

Can anyone suggest a format or some ideas for simple tapping exercises or approaches that I can use with everyone?  The children will vary in age from 5-12 probably.

    Thanks.
    Ed

    Hi Ed,

great that you can give this presentation! did you check out www.tappybear.com? Till Schilling has a wonderful newsletter with lots of stories how to use tappy with children.

When I introduced EFT to my daughter's first grade, I wanted to show them what it means to be relaxed and calm. so we tapped on "even though I am so excited and I have the giggels today, I know I am an awsome kid!"

They were sceptical in the beginning, but when they heard me say "I know I am an awsome kid", they were hooked and tapped with exitement.

I guess it is important that you know for yourself what it is that you want them to understand. A presentation is not going to resolve all the emotional problems they have.

When I introduced EFT at a highschool, I wanted the kids to see that they have control in their lives, that they don't have to feel victimized by trouble at home, or bullying and peer pressure at school, or the stress from school. I Muscletested several of them to get their attention, and then showed them how to get their strength back that they visibly lost whenever they thought of something upsetting.

I was impressed to see the compassion that they had for each other, and the curiosity if EFT can make a difference.

I think that giving it to them as an effective tool that they can use all their lives for whatever bothers them is a wonderful gift. And some will most likely walk up to you and want to learn more after.

Ann Adams has a great presentation on the DVDs, and www.lifemademucheasier.com offers the "I am a great kid" program, that you might find useful.

    Hope this helps.

    Please keep us posted!

    Cheers

Re: Ideas for an EFT workshop for children/parents

Thanks Ingrid.   I love the idea of working with parents/children.   This is probably where we can really make an impact on someone's life.

I'm in the process of putting together the workshop.  It HAS to be hands-on.  I tend to be too theoretical.  So this is a good oppotunity for me to cut out the heavy theory/philosophy stuff.

I'm going to start them off with a simple breathing technique from Aikido. And then I'll bring in the EFT.

    Thanks.

    Hi Ed,

    sounds great!

Yes, hands on is the way to go. For them, EFT is truly a tool. They don't ask the way adults do. I just call it magic points, and for the little ones, I mimic "the monkey" (under the arm and collar bone),....

I am also a registered yoga teacher, and I agree completely, that some physical relaxation and breathing is a great start!

Good luck! Please keep us posted!!!

    Blessings
