EFT was originally developed to reduce the therapy process from months/years down to minutes/hours. As emotional problems faded, both physical health and personal performance improved (often dramatically). As a result, EFT is spreading quickly among the healing community. It is an emotional version of acupressure wherein certain meridian release points are gently stimulated by tapping on them with the fingertips.

Neck and back pain - Have no idea what emotion is causing it

I've been havig neck pain for probably nearly 10 years (I'm 21), and back pain for almost 4. I've been getting into EFT a lot and have even cleared up some major emotional issues from my past, but whatever I do, neither by back pain nor my neck pain get any better. If anything, the pain in my neck just temporarily weakens.

My problem is that I don't know what underlying emotional cause I need to fix. I've read what I could on the topic of finding the hidden causes. I know that according to Louise Hay, neck pain  represents an actual "pain in the neck", though I'm not sure if it only refers to people or situations as well. My back pain, according to her writings, represents some form of guilt. The problem is, I have no idea what either of those mean for me.

I'm at a loss here. I have no idea what the problem could be. I even tapped on "even though I don't know my underlying problem...", though I'm not sure what I expected to happen by doing that.

What should I do, guys? The pain in my neck is about a 5, but the fact that it's been there for so long makes it worse for me. Same for the back pain.

What I thought could be the cause is an accident I had at around 10 years old. I fell on my shoulder, resulting in my collarbone (to this date) being sort of dislocated. It pops in and out of place. I've addressed everything I could think of surrounding that with tapping. The memory of the fall is now harmless and no longer painful, but my back and neck are still a mess.

Maybe I'm expecting too much of EFT. I was actually hoping my collarbone would pop magicallly back into place and stay there. Has anyone ever seen something like that happen with EFT? Bones mending themselves I mean.

Long story short, what do I need to do for my neck and back? Any suggestions whatsoever are welcome. Thank you so much in advance.

     Hi Boris,

Since you started tapping on the fall try adding 'helplessness'" as the emotional issue and also "even tho my collarbone pops in and out of place and its a PITA" or pain in the neck...etc...travel that road and see if it resolves. A good deep tissue massage will also help to loosen the muscles up to help the energy to flow easier, when they tighten up around an injury its like a dam the energy has to tunnel thru use some heat also to soften the area

    Make it a great day!

    Hi Boris!

I am surprised you have not had more relief just tapping on pain issue. "Even though, I have this pain at level 5 in my neck, it feels like________________ (burning, dull ache?) it is always there (whatever is true for you :~) and very wearing..............." finish with acceptance.

Repeating "this pain" at each point, and do up to 10 rounds, which Gary has suggested, but, honestly, I have never had to do more than 4, maybe five at the most. I also tap with two hands, both sides. Usually two rounds will take me to the point, I forget aboout it (1-2) and then to a zero 15 minutes later.

( I had a whip-lash injury in my 30's and then 12 years later after continued pain, I had neck surgery and the doctor removed a disk that had calcified. This was before magnets & EFT. When I started having problems the second time, not wanting surgery, I placed a 50 cent size magnet on shoulder point that seemed to be the trigger point and wore it 24/7, every day the pain was less and I regained full use of my arm in 6 months, which when I started was down to about 20%. Now, with EFT, I tap and combine some magnetic energy in a diffent form. I have to wonder, if it could have been accomplished in much less time. Either way, I am very grateful and I do understand your discomfort.)

I have also, found touching the pain area, to help in being specific, saying "This pain right here!" "it is driving me nuts" :~)

Tapping a full round, all fingers and Gamut Point (pain) would seem to be helpful, that way you are energizing meridians directly that are located in your arms and much closer to possible problem blockages.

I have developed a series using a combination of style of "Allergy Antidotes" in combination with Dr. Lincoln's "Messeges of the Body" ( he gives emotional issues for each vertebra and disc ) and Louise Hay affirmations, that I have used very successfully. If you know from x-rays exact or specific location  Cervical C1-C2-C3-C4-C5-C6-C7 ----- Thorasic T1-T2-T3-T4-T5-T6-T7-T8-T9-T10-T11-T12 Let me know and I will forward the information to you.

If you do not know for sure, we can use Muscle Response Testing to determine the weak areas that are causing you pain and then do the same as above.

Hope this is helpful, let me know if you desire anymore information!

Re: Neck and back pain - Have no idea what emotion is causing it

    Hello Boris

Have you gotten angry with the pain and suffering that you have had to endure for all these years? Have you gotten angry with the issues that you have had to deal with and that are now causing you limitations in your life? Anger is a wonderful release to issues, at least I have found this in my personal as well as professional practices. Try it and see if it helps you too. I would love to hear about your experiences with it if you don't mind sharing.

What I mean by using it is to allow your self the anger that may or may not be there from this and all the aspects and surrounding 'stuff' that needs to also be addressed. When you are tapping, yell, scream, make faces ... get angry and use it in your words and tone. And if you don't actually 'feel' angry or that anger is part of this then use it in your words so that you tap into it JUST IN CASE it's there on some level that you aren't aware of.

ET I may or may not be angry about ___________

ET I'm not sure if I'm carrying hate and anger about __________

Perhaps in your childhood you weren't able to express your self or certain emotions, such as anger or frustration, disappointment and the like. Then this would be a time to tap into this and allow it to surface and release.

ET I was never allowed to yell when I was young _________

ET I was never allowed to show my true feelings or anger about anything without getting in trouble [or whatever else might fit here] ____________

ET I wasn't treated fairly and it made me so mad but I had to hold it in because I wasn't allowed to show any kind of anger when I was a kid ___________

I trust that this will help guide you further in your healing journey.

    In Peace, Kathleen

I have only a little addition to the above excellent suggestions.

    • In my experience, going from medic to medic, physio to physio, etc, can itself be a trauma.
    • Also, what happened 4 years ago in your life, just before the back pain?
    • In my personal and client experience, EFT can be used for motivation for exercises specific to the injury.  If you can work with a personal trainer specializing in injury, the EFT adds an amazing dimension that really speeds you through the treatment for optimal results.
    I hope this helps.
