Re: How to build your EFT practice
This made me smile: "In truth, I did attend one networking meeting – my first and last. If
you think about leveraging your time, networking meetings are not very
efficient. I would prefer to spend the time writing an article that
can potentially impact thousands of people. But if you enjoy
networking meetings, be my guest, well, actually not MY guest, but you
know what I mean." Very, very true! I did the networking thing, and whilst it did bring me clients, it is not as efficient as some other methods. Another thing I cut out now (due to time) is talks at other people's premises. I have my own and my time is best spent at the moment giving a talk in my office rather than someone else's.

Re: How to build your EFT practice
Suzanne, My experience is the same as yours. For instance, tomorrow night I'm doing a free teleclass. Over 130 people have signed up to spend 75 minutes learning more about about how I apply EFT to help people increase success. It took two emails to set that up. I'll have a similar opportunity next month and the month after that .. I'm also learning even more effective tools about leveraging time. For instance, I'm exploring two different Joint Ventures with other coaches that would allow me to share my passion with very large groups of people they are working with. We're talking the opportunity to share my passion with hundreds (possibly thousands) of prospective clients - all arranged during a 45 min phone call. In my eyes, a pretty cool way to spend time. BTW, Suzanne a mutual friend of ours was recently raving about the results she's seen working with you.
Warmly, Paul

Re: How to build your EFT practice
Great point, Suzanne!
Yes, I agree with the networking thing: I have tried it and it didn't work as well as when I do my own things with likeminded people who are personally invested in my topic and niche.
It is better to handselect folks who feel passionate about the work we do, and who are interested and personally invested in moving forward with it. There are lots of people out there who are glad that we do what we do - and more than willing to help and support us, as much as we will support them.

Re: How to build your EFT practice
Hi, Paul, I'm so glad that you listed this resource! It's an excellent article. I've used many of the techniques that Carol lists, and they're excellent. I think that where people fall down is that they try to do all of these at once, and it's just not possible. Pick 2 or 3 at the most that appeal to you, and focus on just implementing those ideas. You can try others later, but if you try too many, you'll spread yourself too thin and nothing will work.
You don't have to be excellent at everything to succeed, but being excellent at just a few things can really help your success. Warmly, Pamela

Re: How to build your EFT practice
Hi everyone,
Thank you for posting about this very important subject! I'm trying to build my EFT practice here in France. Since February 09 I'm officialy an EFT practitionner, but until now, it's difficult to find new clients and of course to have a decent salary. Since last month I've started to work on the subject and all the help I can find is really appreciated! What surprises me is that all the interesting information are coming from the US. Here in France, I find no help, there is no "helping spirit" between practitionners, no specialised trainings to build one's practice etc etc. I must admit that there aren't as much EFT practitionners here in France as in the US, but what I see is that they're all working alone, not sharing any information with others. I'm thinking about creating a Group of French EFT practitionners in order to exchange experiences and information but I have to tap first because I've some fear related to that.
Anyway, I use all the information I can find about building an EFT practice on your websites, I listen to your free teleclasses (Last week I listened to Pamela and tomorrow I will be participating to yours, Paul), I try to use the techniques given by Gary, Carol etc etc. I really enjoy all the things I found on the web. However, I sometimes wonder if the techniques used in the US can be used in France, as we do not have the same way of marketing. In order to see if the US marketing techniques are accepted here, I've put a very specifid ad without mentionning anything else EFT can do in a local newspaper and I've decided to Specialised myself in Phobias, Addictions and Weight Loss.
Only those two things (specific ad and beeing specialised) are SOOOO different from what French people usually do!! It's funny to see how people react. My friends who are therapists think that I will have no answers to my ad and that I'm going to have even less clients because I'm specialising myself.
No matter what they think, I continue that way because I want to see if new ideas coming from the US will work here. I hope so!!! And let me say THANK YOU to all of you who try to help others. You can't imagine how helpful you are to me. Reading your websites, listening to your teleclasses is a really big help for me.
Hugs
Stéphanie

Re: How to build your EFT practice
Hey Pamela, Glad the article is useful. And, it's no surprise to me that your practice is thriving like it is. It's a great point you make about people trying to do too many of these at once. Your suggestion about about picking a few and focusing on these is spot on. The other huge mistake I see people make over and over is not bringing authenticity to their marketing. Fear and limiting beliefs get in the way of many practitioners believing that the world wants what they have. So they try to be somebody or something they are not and their marketing feels lame. Fortunately, EFT is a great tool to clear these kinds of blocks. We can even use EFT to open to the possibility that marketing can be authentically fun ("He didn't just say marketing can be fun, did he?"). You're awesome Pamela! Paul

Re: How to build your EFT practice
Hi Stephenie,
thank you for your post with all the insights about marketing in France. I think you are right: Different countries and societies have different rules and success strategies, even though there is certainly some overlap. I think it is important to honor that and work with the flow, not against it.
The first thing that came to mind was that you said you have some tapping to do around reaching out and forming a group. I think that is a great insight and am curious to hear how your situation changes and evolves after you released the fears related to the group you'd like to build. Could it be that some of these fears are more generalized and radiate out to your future clients as well? Maybe (and I am of course only brainstorming here, not knowing your specific situation), a fear of not being accepted, not being good enough, not being supported? Once fears like this, and their underlying issues are released, our situation often changes in magical and surprising ways.
Re: Specialization: I think when starting a new practice and business like you are, it is important to have a vision of the clients you love to work with and feel comfortable helping. Feel how you relate to them, what makes working with them meaningful to you, and why they are grateful to have found you. This is one way of specializing, that makes your life very comfortable and will allow you to attract those that you truly want to work with. Don't think of it as exclusive, pushing away folks that don't fit into your niche, as I am sure you are welcoming clients with other issues as well. It is simply the description of the perfect match for you.
The niche should be according to where you are comfortable, what you love to do, where your passion is. Do you like to surround yourself with people with phobias and addictions, who can then learn how to free themselves with EFT? Does it excite you to see an overweight woman or man, knowing what great result he or she willl get from working with you?
Passionate people attract each other, support each other and are not afraid to share as they understand that they will grow together instead of against each other. The word will spread quickly, one person at a time.
And then think about where you can and will find those clients and go there and make connections. Most EFT practitioners report very minimal results with advertising in magazines, as they are once again spreading the word without being able to direct it to those they have in mind.
It would be interesting to learn how French people usually advertise and approach a business. I am looking forward to learning more about this!
Hope this helps.
Love
Ingrid
