EFT was originally developed to reduce the therapy process from months/years down to minutes/hours. As emotional problems faded, both physical health and personal performance improved (often dramatically). As a result, EFT is spreading quickly among the healing community. It is an emotional version of acupressure wherein certain meridian release points are gently stimulated by tapping on them with the fingertips.

Still stuck on one more bad habit. Advice?

I've been successfully using EFT to clean out my old attitudes about food. I'm eating healthy now and I feel really happy that I got my old habits under control. But I'm still having trouble with one thing. Around 2:30 to 4:30 in the afternoon I will get a very strong craving for sweets. Chocolate, always chocolate, and especially chocolate cookies. The craving is SO strong it's like a monster. I've tapped and tapped on the craving but it still ends up the same with me raiding the cupboard and absolutely stuffing myself. I go on total auto pilot and at the end I feel like I'm waking up out of a sleep and I can't believe what I just did.

I hate it because all the calories I burn feels like it's just a waste because I make up for it by binge eating cookies.

Strangely enough this only happens weekdays.

Any advice or tips or... anything? I'm stumped. :(

    Hi Tabris,

Congratulations on your success w/EFT so far!!!!

Some questions that you may want to ask yourself after you have done a few rounds of tapping:

    • What is the payoff for me to binge on chocolate?
    • Why do I need to stuff myself?
    • What is the payoff for me stuffing myself?
    • What memories to I have with chocolate or cookies that are coming up for me from when I was a child?

You use the information that you get from answering the above questions. EFT can help you with the CONFLICT that you have. A part of you is in control and another part is not. Here are some set-up phrases that might work. Even though:

    • a part of me is in control, there is another part of me that isn't interested in being in control. Just give me cookies and chocolate and no one will get hurt. I love and accept the part of me that doesn't want to give up my goodies.
    • my treats are the most important part of life for a part of me, and I haven't been willing to let my treats go. I love and accept that part of me.
    •  I don't think I can live without my treats or at least a part of me feels that way. I accept that part of me.
    • there is a part of me that is sabotaging my efforts to eat right...
I just thought of "cookie monster" as a reminder phrase. My take on this is that it is your inner child who is responsible. Go easy on her... As you can see, she has a lot of power. I bet you can work out a deal

Hope this helps. Please let me know how it goes. By the way, you may want to consider finding an EFT practitioner who has experience in working with these kind of issues--if you can't figure it out yourself.

    In appreciation,

    JoAnn

Thank you, that all sounds pretty good to try. I'll try those out and see how I do with it for the next few days.

It's funny, when I read "cookie monster" I remember a photograph of myself in the kindergarten halloween show, I was cookie monster for halloween!

Haha not that that is the problem, just funny...

    You are welcome!

Laughing is the perfect response--it helps move the energy & that is what you want. Be sure & try "Cookie Monster" as a reminder phrase & see if it helps you shift. My intuition tells me it will help.
