EFT was originally developed to reduce the therapy process from months/years down to minutes/hours. As emotional problems faded, both physical health and personal performance improved (often dramatically). As a result, EFT is spreading quickly among the healing community. It is an emotional version of acupressure wherein certain meridian release points are gently stimulated by tapping on them with the fingertips.

    Confusion from a Newbie!

    Dear Forum

I only discovered EFT this week, and since have been watching all the wonderful instruction videos on YouTube, and tapping along (I've also got my husband in on the act also). We've had some incredible results in this very short time, but one thing we have both noticed is that whenever we tap for abundance, prosperity etc, our current situation suddenly gets worse.Unexpected things happen; clients who always pay without fail, suddenly don't pay their invoice, very high bills arrive which seem completely wrong, more money gets taken out of our account via direct debits than usual etc etc.

We have decided we will keep tapping as it could just be our energy is suddenly all over the place and it needs time to settle. But I'm not sure if this is really the problem.

What's happening? Any ideas would be greatly welcomed.

     Hello,

It could be that when you start tapping on your abundance issues, you are bringing some deeper issues to the surface, but are not spending long enough/looking in the right places in order to get rid of them completely. This is similar to people who find that their pain initially becomes worse after a few rounds, or people who start feeling more emotional when they begin tapping.

Once you have found and eliminated the core issue/pattern completely, this hopefully won't be a problem for you anymore.

    Hopefully this makes sense :-)

    Hi,

Thanks for reaching out to the forums.

What have you been tapping on?  It's likely that you have been trying to move too fast. With tapping for abundance, it is a common thing that "our energy is suddenly all over the place" when this happens.  In fact, another EFT practitioner, Sejual Shah, and I have coined the term vibrational whiplash for this.  It comes when we try to make more rapid progress on abundance issues than our systems are ready for.  You can read about vibrational whiplash and the incremental approach to abundance at: http://paulzelizer.com/eft-and-loa-for-abundance-the-incremental-approach/

I'd also suggest that you explore any feelings of needing to have "incredible results" in the area of abundance.  If they are there, tap on them.

The concept of "tailenders" is also an important one in abundance work.  There is a great article by EFT Master Pat Carrington on how to use EFT to handle tailenders at: http://www.emofree.com/Articles2/self-sabotage-tail-enders.htm

    Hope this helps.

    With love,

    Paul

    Dear Paul and Chim

Thank you very much for taking the time to reply. Both your replies were most helpful.

Paul: I read the links you gave, and they were fab. In fact I think I definetely have "vibrational whiplash". So much so, that I stopped tapping over the weekend, and have come back to it this week in a much calmer fashion. I will keep you posted.

Also read many of the articles on your site which have really helped me-thank you.

In addition to this and Paul's advice, I wonder if you are making the typical newbie mistake of not being specific enough.  I know I used to!  The trick is to tap for a particular event, then another, then another, until the issue is gone.  And make sure you tap till zero rather than till you feel better but not zero.  Here is a tutorial about being specific:

    http://www.emofree.com/tutorial/tutorbtwo.htm

You don't need to identify root causes before you tap.  Tapping often brings up root causes for you.  For example, you  can start with the last time a client did not pay on time.  A simplified form of tapping is like this...

    Setup

"Even though I have this feeling about when [this client] did not pay on time, I deeply and completely accept myself"

    Reminder

"This feeling about when [this client] did not pay on time"

After tapping this event all the way down to zero, then ask yourself: "If there was an event, person, or something somebody said, a parent, teacher, or priest, that reminds me of this, what would it be?"

Whatever comes to you, you can tap on.

    Happy tapping!

    Van,

So glad to hear that you're feeling calmer about your approach.  Doing a happy calm dance for you ..

Suzanne also has a great point - once you calm your energy, start to explore specific issues that are in way of your abundance goals.  If you're not sure what they are, I have a tool I developed to help you find them.  It's called Money Matrix and you can read more about it here: http://paulzelizer.com/intro-to-money-matrix/

If you need help figuring out how to apply EFT to the issues that surface in this exercise, feel free to send me a message.

    Blessings,

    Paul

    Re: Confusion from a Newbie!

     Van,

The advice given by others is top notch.  I've seen this before when people have what I call the 'Champagne moments'.  They release some much pent up emotion and energy. Although you feel like a million dollars and blissful.  Everything thing around you now has to play catch up.  I even know people when they have their first real emotional shift, a 10-0 in one go. They were really ill and sick the next day.  It was their body catching up with their mind and emotional shift.

In addition, when you started having your breakthroughs and you felt the emotional release, what then did you start thinking about straight afterwards? Quite often I've found that when we have an emotional release, we are looking for something to replace the void.  Nine times out of ten, people naturally replace it with something negative, why.. That is what they are use to.  With EFT, your focus will naturally shift to more positive outcomes.

Our minds go...Oh it can't be that easy, this really can't be happening, what now, this really can't be working for me, What will other people think of me if I'm successful?  Things, people, places andsituations do and will get better.  Once you start tapping.  Other things often come up and appear in our world.  We have allowed them to.  They were always there, we just needed to get to them.  The best thing to do, is just keep tapping.

Be as specific as possible about what you tap on.  Yet, regardless of how specific you are in your are in your words and phrases.  EFT always works.

It is wonderful to hear that you and your husband are tapping together. That is a double whammy.  When a couple can both release negative emotions, beliefs and fears from themselves and their relationships.  The results can be amazing and spectacular. That was one of the early successes I had with some friends of mine.

    Happy Travels
