Help with Gagging when Tapping on Abundance

    Hi,

I have been working on abundance for the last week and have something

    I need some help with.

When testing my abundance afirmations for tail-enders, I started saying

"I have millions and millions of dollars."  When repeating this, I develop

a sick feeling in my stomach and start to gag within a matter of seconds.

I then started tapping on "even though I get sick to my stomach and gag

when thinking of having millions of dollars....   I have repeated the basic recipe on this

15 to 20 times without any improvement.

Does anybody have any ideas of how to approach this or what I should try tapping on?

Any and all suggestions are most welcome.

     Many thanks!

Thanks for reaching out to the forums.

One of the most common mistakes people make when first using EFT for Abundance is to try and make too big a jump too fast.  To me, it sounds like your system can't swallow the "millions and millions of dollars".  From the sounds of it, it's to big a jump from where you are.  I see this often with clients as do many of colleagues.

EFT practitioner Sejual Shah and I wrote an article called the Incremental Approach to Abundance with EFT and the Law of Attraction.  It's available at: http://paulzelizer.com/eft-and-loa-for-abundance-the-incremental-approach/

In general, slow down and take smaller bites is my suggestion.

    Blessings,

Re: Help with Gagging when Tapping on Abundance

    Hi Daskeew,

I would approach it by asking yourself, do you feel abundant? In all areas of life? As Wayne Dyer says "Abundance is not something you acquire, but something you tune into". I think it's interesting that Abundance=Money for many people. Money is one aspect of abundance. Where else in your life do you feel lacking, or feel there is something missing? This is usually what is behind not feeling abundant. We don't feel worthy, deserving, lovable etc. You will not 'allow' yourself to have money (or other forms of abundance) if you don't feel good about yourself.

What tail enders (objections) come up, if any, when you say:

    I am lovable

I accept myself exactly as I am right now

    I am worthy

I deserve the best life has to offer

It is safe to be me

It is safe to express how I feel

    I am abundant

I am successful in all areas of life and that feels good

Write down everything that comes up and start tapping on the issues/beliefs/events with the biggest charge. Be as specific as you can.

    Hope this helps

     Hi!

I think that the suggestions that have been made are excellent.  Looking at loving yourself, and starting with an incremental approach to abundance, are important.

Also, the way that you phrased the affirmation could be more powerful.  Look at making your statement a choice, rather than a statement of fact.

'I choose to have...' or 'I choose to be'

The statement 'I choose' will often bypass the tail-enders more effectively.

'I choose to create millions of dollars' may feel more powerful.

Also, ask yourself if 'I have millions and millions of dollars' is what you want at the core.

Many people have ideas such as:

I'll be corrupt if I have too much money.

It's too much work to handle large amounts of money.

I'll have to work to hard to be rich.

Any of these will sabotage you, so start with a small, more achievable measure of abundance ($50,000 - $100,000 - $200,000) whatever is about 20% - 50% more than you make right now, and see if any of these ideas come up.  If you're not ready for any more money at your core, if you don't clear these ideas for the next level, you'll never reach the millions.

     I hope this helps!

    Warmly,

    Pamela

Re: Help with Gagging when Tapping on Abundance

    Hi Paul,

Many thanks for your suggestions.  The incremental approach makes sense.  One of my

affirmations is for generating an income of $100K, so I am for the most part trying to use

that method.  When I do do my checking for tail enders, I get very little if no real emotionally

charged response.  What I usually get is a slight uneasiness, which is very hard to put into

words or match with a specific emotion.  I tried the "millions and millions" approach to try

to identify what the tail-enders actually are so I can put a name to them.

With this in mind is it fine to not name the tail-ender or negative physical sensation that

I get, and simply tap on "this feeling...?"

Thanks again for your kind response!

     My best,

    Dan

Re: Help with Gagging when Tapping on Abundance

    Hi Pamela,

Thank your for your very good suggestions.  I will try each of the affirmations and see what I come up with.

When I am practicing EFT, I will give an affirmation and very rarely get any type of response I can label with words.  I usually get some type of physical sensation in the

upper abdomen, chest, or throat (or combination thereof) with varying degrees of uneasiness.

I can label the response I have to an affirmation, but I am concerned that it is merely a logical psycho-babble concoction rather than something that really has merit in resolving issues related to what I am affirming.

For example, when affirming “I have millions and millions” I started gagging:  Why do you gag when thinking of having millions and millions?  Because it makes me sick to think of having millions and millions.  Why does it make you sick?  Because the rich are selfish and they don’t care about anybody or anything, and it makes me sick to think of being that type of person.

Hence, the tail enders here would be rich people are selfish, rich people don’t care about anybody, and rich people don’t care about anyone.  (All of these I intellectually know to be false)

The question I have is how to tell if I am just running a logical psycho-deduction game on my self, or if what I am coming up with actually has merit in resolving the issues I have with respect to that specific affirmation.

What is your opinion on this?  Do you have any suggestions?

    Thank you for caring!

    My best,

    Dan

Hi Pamela, Thank you for your response! In the past, I have heard that the “I choose…” is a more powerful or effective approach, but can you explain why that is so?  I have always been told to use a positive declaration in the present tense.  When you say I choose…., you are also stating that you do not have that which you are affirming, otherwise you would not be saying that you choose whatever it is.

Can you explain the psychological impact of the I choose method?

Also, I am not really after the money, but what I can do with the money, mainly freedom in all its manifestations. Again, thanks for your response. My best,Dan

Re: Help with Gagging when Tapping on Abundance

    Hey Dan,

Dan, the tailenders are likely different for $100,000 and "millions and millions". Staying with the incremental approach, what if you explore the uneasiness around $100,000 income.  Where do you feel it in your body?  If it could talk, what would it say?  If you could draw a picture of that feeling, what would it look like?  If the uneasiness reminded you of a person in your life, who would that be?

Doing this kind of detective work will help you follow the EFT guideline of "Be specific" and ensure your success.

    Blessings,

    Paul

Re: Help with Gagging when Tapping on Abundance

     Hi, Dan,

I'll try to address all the issues that you've brought up - they are good questions!

As far as the 'I choose' statement goes, I believe that it makes everything very present tense.

When you say 'I choose', you're affirming that in this moment, regardless of what went before, this is who you are, or what you're doing. There's a wonderful immediacy and power to that.  That's the way that I interpret 'I choose', anyway.  And I can choose in the next moment, and the next, until all there is is my current choice.

It's interesting that you say that you're not after money, but the freedom that it will bring. In that case, why are you affirming for money?

This is something that will trip you up - if you want a new car, affirm that you have a new car.  Don't affirm that you have the money to buy a new car.  Why limit the Universe?  If you affirm that you have the money for a new car, you're limiting the way that you can acquire that car.  If you affirm that you have a new car, it could be given to you, you could win it in a contest, etc.  Ask for what you want, not what you think you'll need to get what you want.  Does that make sense?

Regarding worrying about whether what you say is from your logical mind, and not really deep.  There are several theories about this - one is, if something comes up for consideration, tap on it, even if you don't think that there is anything there.  You could simply be dissociated from the emotion, especially if you've been telling yourself for a long time 'I shouldn't feel that way'.

For example :Rich people are greedy.

If you think 'I shouldn't think that, I know that it's not true' you may have cut yourself off from a deep-seated belief that it is true.  So tap on it, several rounds.  See what comes up.  The worst that can happen is that you've spent a couple of minutes tapping.  Often I'll find that if I allow myself to 'get into it', the submerged emotion will surface, and I can then truly clear it.

     Let us know what happens!

    Warmly,

    Pamela

Re: Help with Gagging when Tapping on Abundance

    Hi Dan,

My approach (in addition to the great suggestions you already have here) would be to break it down even further.

    1. How can you make more money in the next 3 months? Is there an opportunity?  If not, can there become an opportunity?  What comes up for you?  That can produce a tappable event that you can hone in on, and this can lead you to core issues.
    2. When was the last time you gagged like this?  What was going on at the time?
    3. Who do you know who is a bad rich person? What did they do? That's another tappable event.
    4. Feeling sick has to do also with your sense of identity. What events happened in your life that cause you to identify as not-rich? Whatever comes up for you, however strange, is valid.
    I hope this helps.

Re: Help with Gagging when Tapping on Abundance

    Dan,

I have always found 'I Choose' and 'I Allow Myself' to be very powerful.

When stating affirmations it's important to remember that they have to be swallowed by the conscious mind in order for them to be absorbed by the subconscious - and become new beliefs.

You are probably gagging because your conscious mind  is rejecting the statements as untrue in the now, but if you state that you choose to have millions, or that you allow yourself to have millions etc,  that is an acceptable statement which the conscious mind cannot really reject.

'I Choose' and 'I Allow Myself'  are very strong, positive statements. It puts you in control. They are also very 'now' statements and we only ever have now.

    Good Luck !
