EFT was originally developed to reduce the therapy process from months/years down to minutes/hours. As emotional problems faded, both physical health and personal performance improved (often dramatically). As a result, EFT is spreading quickly among the healing community. It is an emotional version of acupressure wherein certain meridian release points are gently stimulated by tapping on them with the fingertips.

    creative set-up phrases for self-acceptance

I am fairly new to EFT, and I find that I can't quite get to a 10 on phrases like, "I fully love and accept myself anyway." A lot of tapping on different issues has finally gotten me up to a 9, but there seems to be some part of me that I can't quite accept. Any creative approaches to this issue would be deeply appreciated. Thanks.

    Hi Gayatri,

To my way of thinking, I've found that the most important thing is that you say anything as long as it reflects the truth of what you feel. Your intuition is guiding you against saying the traditional phrasing, so you do honor to yourself by paying heed to its cues. I like to tell people that it's helpful to listen to your internal self talk when you tap. By tapping on what is already going on in your head and body, you are truly connected to where you are in the moment. By doing that, you are accepting yourself. Remember go with the flow and say what feels right. Don't be afraid of lowering the bar and reflecting the truth of your emotions.

I really like to suggest saying the following whenever it feels uncomfortable to say the love and accept myself part.

    • I really wish that I could love and accept myself completely
    • I'm open to the possibility of wanting to love and accept myself more just as I am with all my conflicts and fears
    • I'm totally okay with myself anyway exactly as I am
    • I choose to be pleasantly surprised at how easy and natural it is becoming for me to feel more open to the possibility of loving and accepting of myself more each day
    • I choose to accept myself with all my conflicts and know that I've truly done the best that I could and that a large part of my pain is due to the old beliefs that I have knocking around in my head that may benefit from a bit more reexamination... maybe I just need to do some mental house cleaning.
    • I'm open to the universe and it's flow of abundance as it guides me toward a realization that I am perfect, (substitute word of choice, like okay, great, fabulous, wonderful, etc) as I am

I hope that helps. Let me know how it goes.

    Warmest regards,

    Andrea

Re: creative set-up phrases for self-acceptance

Adrea has given some great tips and suggestions on creative set-up phrases for self-acceptance. i would like to add one more suggestion which may help you to address directly what part of you is stopping you accepting yourself.

Start tapping on your KC point (the Karate Chop point) and say the following:

"Even though there seems to be some part of me that i cant quite accept, i am ok"

continue tapping on the KC point and say the following

"Even though i have this part of me which i am having difficulties accepting, i am alright"

still tapping on the KC point say

"Even though i might have a part of me which is having difficulties accepting part of myself and maybe i dont know what that part is, i choose to let it heal and i give permision for all parts of me to accept myself, and thats ok, and im ok"

Then alternate using the following reminder phrases while using the Tapping sequence your familiar with.

    "that part"

"That part which wont accept myself"

    "That stubburn part"

"that feeling of a part of me not accepting myself"

All the best, and keep us informed how it goes :)

    Warmest Wishes

     Ben

Re: creative set-up phrases for self-acceptance

That was great, Ben.  I didn't even think I had Andrea's problem but I just tapped through your suggestions (because it sort of felt right) and feel somehow much better.  I love where this is going. I have only been doing EFT for a month and it has utterly transformed my life.  Even though no-one else around me is prepared to come with me just yet.  I wish I'd listened to my intuitions years ago, and had faith in myself.

    Andrea,

I really like the last one on your list. My other favourite is "Even though ...., I accept the way I feel right now."

    Regards,

    Rod
