EFT was originally developed to reduce the therapy process from months/years down to minutes/hours. As emotional problems faded, both physical health and personal performance improved (often dramatically). As a result, EFT is spreading quickly among the healing community. It is an emotional version of acupressure wherein certain meridian release points are gently stimulated by tapping on them with the fingertips.

    Sports Performance

EFT Breakthrough for my 5 year old!

At my daughter's gymnastics class she was told that if she could do a straddle press the following week in class she would get a sucker. This is high motivation for my daughter, who doesn't get candy at home. Every day for the next week my daughter practiced and practiced, but to no avail. For those of you who do not know, a straddle press involves considerable strength and flexibility. It's no easy task!

So, on the day of the next class I asked her if she would like to try some EFT with me for her straddle press. She said, "No, that's boring!" "Ok," I said, "but I know you REALLY want that sucker, so if you change your mind, let me know." "I DO, I DO, I DO!" She said, but still didn't take me up on my offer to tap with her. So about 30 minutes before we were to leave for class that evening, she came to me and said, "Ok, I want to try some EFT."

I should point out that she has been pretty negative about tapping to this point. She often called it "boring" and it never did seem to work for her on the few occassions we tried it. So, I decided to use the Choices approach and taped for,

"Even though I have never done a straddle press, I choose to let my body easily do it now."

So, we tapped a round, and then I asked her to close her eyes and imagine herself doing the straddle press. (I have no idea if she really did, after all she's 5!) She then tried to do the straddle press, but was unable. She says, "See! I CAN'T do it!" I scooped her up, put her in my lap and we tapped for,

"Even though I don't believe this EFT stuff is going to work,..."

Then we tapped on the points (no set-up phrase) for,

"My body has everything it needs to do a straddle press."

Then I told her I had to finish getting ready to go and I heard her go downstairs. A few minutes later I was walking by the top of the stairs and I hear her say from downstairs, "I DID IT! I DID IT!" She comes running up the stairs to tell me and SHOW me her straddle press! She did it 4 more times before her class, and then again for her teacher, earning the much coveted Blow Pop sucker.

I just couldn't resist..."So, does EFT work?" I asked my daughter. "YES!" She said enthusiastically. Not only am I so proud of her for doing the straddle press, I am so happy that she has now had her EFT A-ha! moment!

Way to go!!! Thank you so much for sharing.

Now you have an in with your daughter with EFT, and she will probably be willing to try it on another issue with less resistance.

Very exciting!!  Thanks for letting us celebrate with you.

I had a similar experience with my 8 year old daughter.  Except our breakthrough happened one night when she had a bad dream.  It worked wonders and she quickly fell back asleep.  As JoAnn suggested, after that experience now my daughter is more open to using EFT on a number of issues.

    Take care,

This was really inspiring. My very good friend showed me how to do the EFT today and it worked for doubt, and I want to learn so much of this! I knew that EFT could remove both physical and mental pain. Then I wonder if it could work on increasing my physical ability. I want to be a so good soccer player as possible, and can I use EFT to for example be able to sprint the 60 meter under 7 seconds? (which is very fast and difficult to do) I would appreaciated alot any answer! :)

    David,

Thanks for your post and enthusiasm.  I have seen pretty remarkable results using EFT for increasing sports performance.  For instance, on this forum I coached a woman to a 23% improvement in her bowling scores by email alone.  And using EFT in my fitness routine has allowed me to get into incredible shape.  I have no doubt that EFT can help increase your sprinting speed.

I believe that there are two keys to using EFT successfully in this way:

    1. Explore what the blocks are to the next step in your progress and use EFT to remove these blocks.
    2. Look for incremental rather than all at once progress.

Hope this is helpful David.  I hope you'll keep us updated on your progress.

    With much love,

    Re: Sports Performance

Thank you very much for your answer. You helped me alot. I can't use EFT for my speed until tommorow, but I think I will try it for endurance training later today, though I'm not quit sure what to say. But I'll just have to try something. Like "Even though I can't keep running after 4 min in high speed, I deeply and completely accept myself" or "Even though I can't keep running after 4 min in high speed, I choose to be able to do that now" I will post my progress and results using EFT, and I'm really excited about it. Now I can take any skill or thing I need to perform very well on soccer, and use EFT on it, and then I will have huge progress! I first heard about The Secret and the law of attraction. Now I believe that I got attracted to this EFT. As I am only 15 years old, I can see a very bright future for my soccer career. David

    Re: Sports Performance

     Paul,

I think this is great information about using EFT for improving sports performance. I coached a young athlete for a mini-session, and brought his batting average from .288 to .600 the next (and final) game.

Something else important to look at is your emotions, anotherwords how you feel about what you have already done. If you add this to exploring the removal of your blocks I believe that you should find success in your progress.

Looking forward to hearing more about how it goes for you.

    David,

I really appreciate your enthusiasm.  Whatever you do, keep tapping!

"Even though I can't keep running after 4 min in high speed, I choose to be able to do that now"

David, this is a good example of "mechanical" EFT.  It's a good tool and it is worth a try.  However, there are much more powerful forms of EFT.  They involve looking for the specific emotions, limiting beliefs, negative relationships, etc that are getting in the way of your peak performance and clearing these with EFT.  It takes a bit more time to learn and skill to apply.  And the highly improved results are definitely worth it.

     Hey JoAnn,

Thanks for sharing this story of great results.  Anything you can tell us about what contributed to your success?

Appreciate your presence here JoAnn.  I have the intention that this forum will become much more utilized than it has been in the past.  Would you have any interest in helping that happen?

    Re: Sports Performance

HI. I have tested it now on my treadmill. First I set my treadmill on 16 km/t, and I started running. The treadmill reached top speed at about 50 seconds. And then I lasted nearly 4 minutes, total time: 4 min and 45 sec. Then I tapped on KC saying "Even though I can't run 10 minutes in high speed, I choose to be able to do that now" or very close to that, only saying it on norwegian as english is my second language. I was accepting to last about 2 min on that speed, and I was pretty suprised I managed to do nearly 4 minutes on the highest speed in first round, so I did set my goal very high. Then I tapped the 7 other places saying "I can't run 10 minutes in high speed" Second round I reached a total time on 5 minutes and 5 seconds (with the same accelration on the treadmill). Keep in mind that I was still a little tired after first round, but on the other hand I was motivated to beat the first time, so I did maybe push me a little bit further the second round. So I don't if you can call it success with EFT or not. I tried to do it again with a little differens in my affirmation. I did say something like this "Even though I'm exhausted after 4 minutes I deeply and completely accept and love myself" But I was so tired after the last two that I gave up after only 2,5 minutes. PS. While running I did exhale and inhale deeply. I think actually I did endurace much longer when I did that. I haven't focused so much at it before, but I was pretty suprised of how long I managed to run. Maybe my breathing was the reason. I appreacited alot your comments Paul David

    David,

Congradulations.  What you did is called "testing".  It's an important tool.  I'd suggest keep going with this over time.  Measure 1-2 times per week.  From now on, just count the first round - you already have your "benchmark" or starting point - 4 minutes at highest speed.  Keeping tapping and see what happens over the next month.  Let us know how things go.

    With much love,

    Re: Sports Performance

Thanks again. I love reading your posts, and I can't wait to hear more from you. I need to be in top physical condition, so running 1-2 times in the week isn't enoguh, also running only one round is either not enough. I see what you mean about measureing 1-2 times in the week because of EFT, but I have to do alot more then that. I think I will train my endurance 4-5 times in week, and repeating 5-6 times in one day. I want to be able to run constantly in a soccer match the next season. Though I'm not quit sure how often and when I should use EFT, and what I should say. I have only knowed what EFT really is in a few days, and because of school and training, I have not been able to read about it so very much. Though I have started on the EFT Manual. Because I believe you know alot about this, I would be very grateful for you helping me out with a EFT routine. Should I do it before sleeping or only before the workout/testing? By the way I read your article about constricted breathing, and I think I will use that too. But shoul use EFT on that or just take deep breaths before a workout, slepping and tho other times in the day?

    David,

I would suggest keeping things simple at the beginning.  How about two things: 1) keeping your breathing relaxed (Constricted Breathing Technique will do this) and 2) tapping directly on the physical and mental blocks that are limiting your performance.  Do that for a month or so.  Then evaluate where to go next.

    Loving your excitement.
