EFT was originally developed to reduce the therapy process from months/years down to minutes/hours. As emotional problems faded, both physical health and personal performance improved (often dramatically). As a result, EFT is spreading quickly among the healing community. It is an emotional version of acupressure wherein certain meridian release points are gently stimulated by tapping on them with the fingertips.

    Sinusitis/tinnitus

     Dear community:

Sometimes it's easier for others to see things that we may be missing, and so I'm posting this in the hopes that I may arrive at some sort of clarity that would allow me to use EFT to release the symptoms I have been feeling.  Back in Feb. I became aware of the Tinnitus in my ears, I had gotten over a bad sinus cold that took a long time to get rid of, but left the ringing  behind.

While there has been a lot of change and upheavel in my life, I have been dealing with it by using EFT  I know that in general there is usualy an underlying emotinal factor when illness or pain sets in, I have not pin pointed core underlying beleif. The Sinus inflamation returned, and really became severe in May, so much so that the headaches were unbearable.

While I had to seek medical attention, I'm still not back to my old self. My sinuses are inflamed causing pain, lightheadeness and ringin in my ears.I'm familiar with Louise Hayes and her affirmations, but have not as yet gotten to the right phrases to tap on, any suggestions?

    Many thanks to all

    Celest

    Hello Celest,

From what you are saying, you may have been coping with whatever is going on but maybe "over stuffing it down"...I suggest you really examine again your feelings over what you have been dealing with.  Is there a sadness that has not been fully expressed? Are you bypassing a part of you? sacrificing a desire or a longing? It might need to be honoured or acknowledged.

Imagine breathing fully.  what would allow that?

This is only an idea, hope this helps.

    Hi Fabienne:

Thank you for the insight, yes, there has been a lot of loss that has been difficult to deal with. I Use EFT as the grief arises, and I find it helps to release at the moment, but there will be triggers that will bring the memory back with just as much impact as if I were experiencing it in the moment.

    Hello Celest,

Grief is a natural process and maybe in your situation, you need to feel it rather than tap it away, of course, you can tap when it is not appropriate but that might explain your symptoms.

I came accross the following program by Elizabeth Lesser and Oprah Winfrey, I rather like what E. Lesser has to say on grief ( it is in part 2, the latter 10 minutes)

Maybe this will give you a different perspective.

    Take care,

    Fabienne

    Re: Sinusitis/tinnitus

Hi Celest - on the physical level, I've found not drinking diet colas has decreased my tinnitus quite a bit. You might look at the issue as "something you don't want to hear"....or that you heard something you wish you hadn't. The ears correlate to the kidney meridian. There are specific emotions attached to each meridian and the kidneys' are fear vs. peace. So you could look at what was fearful that you heard or overheard. Also, there is that phrase "the quiet was deafening'.....has your life changed in some way where someone no longer is in it, and you miss not hearing their voice...and it's too quiet? Hope that helps in some way, Pam

     Hello Celest,

I've been suffering from sinusitis for decades  (I am 54).  No pain, but always full and no smelling for me. Traditional medicine is helping with some drugs, one operation to clean them up. And that's it. I still believe I'll find the solution that will last. I've discovered EFT recently and still don't know what to say. But I'll certanly try.

    Re: Sinusitis/tinnitus

I have just come across this thread.  I used to suffer regular chronic sinus infections as a child and young adult and I still tend to get the problem there when I am having difficulty processing my grief.

I agree with Fabiennes comments about grief.  I used to think it meant I had to tap all the feelings away, but Emotional Freedom is not meant to be about not feeling, its about feeling what appropriate and letting it run through.  When my sinuses feel stuffy I usually have been holding back the need to have a good cry.  Just had one this morning and its definitely easier to breathe:)

I have had quite a deal of success with clients with chronic sinus conditions who contacted me after the publication of this case study

    http://www.emofree.com/Articles2/sinusitis-gillian.htm

The point of this however is not to show you how to do it, as this is a unique set of circumstances, but rather highlighting how deeply held emotional issues can cause the problem. In this case a unique circumstance was causing a subconcious reaction and the resulting sinus infection. Another client had to deal with her anger towards her father which stemmed from something that happened when she was 9, and the problems were in her late 40's.  Although the sinus issue did not arise till later we only got limited results on tapping for the symtpoms until we went deeper to where the issue began.

If tapping on symtpoms with basic EFT doesn't work it could mean that there is a deeper emotional issue which needs to be addressed.  In my experience, and that of many others on this board and certainly that of my client in the case study, we know how difficult it can be to access these emotions alone.  There is often a very good reason why they got 'stuffed' up there in the first place.

I am not telling anyone they have to see a pracititioner, but if you are not getting results alone this might be a good time to consider asking for some help.

Magdalena, I would suggest tapping on exactly how it feels.  If you read the article my clients nose felt full of smoke and that naturally led to a memory.  Another client described her long term blocked sinuses as being solid blocks of metal.  We tapped on that description and it helped to reduce it but we cleared it completely when we worked on the specific memories involved around the time of the onset of the problem.

If we can't be specific at first about the memory be very specific about how it feels!  Use the language a child might use ie

In my own case my sinus problem came from emotions I had experienced as a child but was never free to express to anyone.  One particular trauma was a beating round the face and I was totally alone and unsupported by the people who should have protected me, I had to get help with that memory as it was one I would not conciously allow myself to revisit fully.

Maybe some of this will give you some ideas to try anyway.
