My husband, my son and I have all discovered EFT and are using it regularly. I think it is amazing, but my husband has lost faith that he can ever be free of his headaches. He first remembers having them at about age 7, but can find no core issues that he is aware of. He doesn't remember a lot of his early years. He has had these headaches a few times a week, sometimes more often for the last 30 years. We have tried so much...this is our last hope. He has worked with a practitioner for hours at a time and managed a small reduction of pain, but it is exhausting, without much result. I think maybe he needs to tap on not wanting to be rid of his pain. His belief that EFT won't work. And his fury that he has to suffer this pain so often. His father and siblings all have the same headaches. Maybe even his acceptance that he gets these headaches and is sick of trying to solve the puzzle. Please give us some suggestions on where to go from here with his tapping. He is committed to doing the hard work.

Hello,
I think that you are on the right track.
You have some great ideas for set-up phrases. If you husband is willing to tap on these and he can change the ones that don’t work for him. The idea of course is get to what emotions are involved with his headaches. How does he feel about having them. Maybe his headaches are trying to tell him something. Many times pain can be a messenger--a feeling that is waiting to be felt and let go of. When it is let go of, then it is gone, and possibly the pain of the headache or part of the pain, unless there is more to it--other aspects. Just imagine puzzle pieces being put together.
For fastest results--go for the biggies. Some people aren't ready to go fast because they are more comfortable with their condition than letting it go too quickly. They can go at a slower pace. We are always at choice. Sometimes people feel comfortable enough to let a condition that has been part of their life for decades and decades. I have personally seen people let it go in a twinkling of a eye.
From my experience, EFT can still work if the person doesn’t believe in, and yet believing in it can add to it. However, a person’s willingness is important. Here are some set-up phrases Even though:
-
I have doubts about EFT working for my headache because I have tried EFT and it only helped a little and the process exhausted me. I am not sure if EFT will help my headache, and I deeply and completely love and accept myself.
-
There may be a part of me who doesn’t quite know who I will be with my headaches...
-
I feel furious that I have had these headaches for 12, and it really makes me angry that I haven’t been able to get rid of them for all of these years…
Let me know what happens.
Gratefully yours,
JoAnn

Thanks for your suggestions. I am loving EFT and have faith in it. I have lost 4kgs in the last month through tapping. My husband is still battling with his headaches. I think perhaps he is obsessed with or addicted to them. They take up so much of his time. Is it better for him to try and deal with them when he is actually having a headache, or when he is not suffering the pain?
He really needs any advise you can offer.

Hi, Congratulations on your losing weight!!! Yay!!! I too have lost weight--20 pounds in the last 3 months--isn't it great!
A thought that just came to mind, you said that his headaches take up so much of his time, a question he might want to ask himself is if I didn't have these headaches, is there something else that I would feel like I would have to do and don't want to do? I know that one may be a long shot... When you husband first notices that a headache is coming on I think it would be a good time to deal with it--instead of waiting until it is super intense. Also, he can look at: - what else is going on
- what is he feeling
- he may want to consider what he has eaten--he may have an allergy or food sensitivity
- is there something that he is wanting to avoid
- is there something going on that he doesn't like
When I was first into EFT, and I was having all kinds of success with it, my husband didn't have the enthusiasm that I did for it. In fact, he didn't like it (and he still doesn't like tapping--even though he has his own non-tapping version). I think that he may have seen it as "my thing"... I was kind of pushy without trying to be. I don't know if that is an issue for you, too. For my husband, he prefers to touch and breathe. Also, he likes me to touch him gently, but I still can use some EFT ideas, sometimes I add essential oils, too.
Some problems that people have with EFT: - not being specifi--being to general
- not going deep
- not getting to the emotions
Hope this helps, JoAnn

Hi Sigzephyr,
I had the same situation as your husband with headaches. You can read my account of them here, and see if they seem to match up with your husband's: http://eftcommunity.emofree.com/forums/p/423/4426.aspx#4426 I'd be willing to talk with him and help him along if you think he'd be open to it (no fee). It wasn't easy getting rid of them, but I was ultimately successful. Go ahead and have him send me a private message or e-mail if he's interested.
Kind regards,

I have been suffering migranes for about 12 years. I actually have some type of headache everyday. I also suffer from idopathic stabbing pains. I have tried everything. I am currently taking amitriptiline & topamax daily and botox injections on the advise of a pain specialist every 3 months. This has somewhat helped witht he severity of the pain but I still have a headache everyday. I also have Maxalt for when the pain is too severe but I usually take them 3 to 4 times a week and could take them everyday but have been told not to so I don't but could. I need help because I am almost 40 and don't have to go on like this any longer 12 years is enough!!!!!!!! The headaches are the most important thing in my life! I go to sleep in pain and I wake up in the morning with pain almost every single day!

Hello to anyone following this thread and looking for additional thoughts about headaches.
Although there were various things that I did with my suffering of headaches, one that was a huge connection was a hormone imbalance. Focusing there and putting them back into balance has been the one most important thing that has stopped them all together. Now I know, without a doubt that if I do suffer from a headache it is connected to something known that I have ingested but chose to take the chances anyway, not getting enough sleep or not drinking enough water the day prior.
I trust this will help guide you and whenever working on a headache it's important to slow down and get quiet so that you can truly go inside and listen to what is being said and shown to you.
Peace, Kathleen

Hello, I am new to this forum and have come here to share my recent experience with EFT. I will start with the Migraine issue. First Migraine at 12, thought I was really dieing and was scared to death. I have had migraines off and on throughout my life and am now 44. To address a few concerns or observations above in this thread: So many things can cause headaches, more importantly headaches that are disabling or debilitating. Hormones, magnesium, potassium and calcium supplementation program are helpful and avoid all triggers, different for everyone. I have been a Hypnotherapist since 2001, and in health care most of my working life. Of late, I have been dealing with more migraines than usual, so was looking at energy balancing through the chakras, meditation, mantras etc. Well, something very huge happened that caused me to re-visit EFT. I didn't have time to balance my chakras, I needed stress relief fast as this was a huge trauma and I knew if I didn't do something I would stew for days and it would get worse. I immediately went to the EFT site Gary Craig. My thinking was that, it helped me with cold calling in one session, it helped me to go into private practice without fear in one session...why not really tap into tapping as a real resource. ( I know). Anyway, yesterday I was watching EFT videos and looking into becoming certified so as to add it into my practice and teach my clients how to do this at home, like working out. I had to review the tapping protocol so as to deal with my immediate issue at hand. I thought of all the feelings I had with respect to this situation and wrote down as many statements as I could to describe the 'problem'. I then tapped to about five of these over 3 hours. I had relief by the afternoon and regained complete productivity. I was no longer worried about the issue, stressing about the event, or thinking about what was going to happen or what was wrong with me etc. The relief and calm were amazing and delivered fast. This morning I woke up with a Migraine. I was sick and was just so bummed that, after such a great day yesterday, I may be in trouble for several days. I had ordered Pizza last night, probably had MSG on it...didn't even think about that when I was eating it. Anyway, I was having a migraine. I was laying there and, EFT came to mind. Now, I was in so much pain, the thought of sitting up and doing EFT was challenging. I thought, I can't even do that. I thought of the video of a woman saying that she could think of no case where she couldn't get relief from a migraine with EFT. I thought, why waste time, get to it. I thought of 3 ways to describe my headache, migraine, being poisoned my msg. I tapped one side. Took a few deep breaths and sat paying attention to my body. Then I switched sides and tapped saying another phrase about the problem. My whole body opened up. That was at 8AM, it is now 11:34 and I am feeling fine and am typing my thanks to EFT here. I told myself this morning that if I get relief from this, if it saves me the agony and torture...I am going to add this to my practice and come directly here to e-mail my story. Here I am. I am not new to healing or counseling, the power of thoughts and manifesting. I have been practicing healing modalities for years, but I am very new to EFT. ( One of two years knowing about it, only tried it on myself and a couple of others a hand full of times prior to this week.) I believe that if done well and with a sense of the feelings you have with respect to the problem, you can tap it out. I believe the key is to really get around the problem and create a few good phrases that activate the body to create the blocks in your energy so that the tapping can change the energy pattern . I believe that was the key to my success with EFT and my Migraine today, as well as the other issue yesterday. I tapped all around the feelings and emotions as well as the tangible external facts of the situations. I don't have a migraine hangover either. Someone was mentioning above, taking maxalt multiple times a day. I am not a practitioner, but I do believe that if you first tap out your blockage to healing your headaches, maybe you can make some progress. Don't wait, just find any reasons for holding onto your headaches. Mine was, ' Even though I have these headaches that keep me from achieving success...... Even though I am afraid that I will have no excuse for failure if I am headache free.... What if I no longer have headaches and I am still not successful, what will be my excuse then?...... Even though I may still be hanging on to my headaches for some reason my conscious mind is not aware of..... (that kind of thought process). In fact, for the husband who doubts that EFT is effective; Even though I doubt that EFT will work for me... Even though I have this problem believing in the body/mind connection.... even though I do not believe that EFT can help my headache... Even though I don't think anything will ever stop my headaches... ~These blocks could be tapped away.~ It's worth a try. Do it while having a headache or when getting the headache. If possible, tap through as many ideas as you can think of, until the headache is gone, or almost gone. Of course if you just can't continue, rest and lay down. Unfortunately, if you get headaches more than 3 times a month, it is hard to figure out what is doing it. It can be almost anything. The idea is to make yourself into someone who can do anything and not get migraines. After all there are so many people who eat MSG on purpose and never get headaches. Why not go for it and aim to be the person who doesn't get Migraines or headaches? That is my goal. Thank you, Heidi

Hi Heidi, Welcome to our forum and congratulations on your success with using EFT for your migraines. You had some great setup phrases! I can tell that you are going to be a great EFT practitioner...
By the way, if you are having discomfort in be, like a migraine, it isn't necessary to even sit up. You can do it lying down. Something else. I would recommend putting your writing into word pad or something like that, and then copy it into the message area, and then do your bullets and spacing after your paragraphs, and that will make your post easier to read.
Gratefully yours, Joann
