EFT was originally developed to reduce the therapy process from months/years down to minutes/hours. As emotional problems faded, both physical health and personal performance improved (often dramatically). As a result, EFT is spreading quickly among the healing community. It is an emotional version of acupressure wherein certain meridian release points are gently stimulated by tapping on them with the fingertips.

    Caregiving and Animals

    Hello,

Something struck me after writing in on the Animal Forum about our Missing Cat , if he came back injured I would have to look after him and I have an EFT course running , if he came back to day when we had friends around for a barbie, we would instantly care, look after him..the courses, friends , nothing matters except  ' looking after or caring ' for our animal.

How far do the boundries extend of care/caregiving ..when I was asked to write the introduction for this forum, I never thought about the animal side of it..I am not trying to take away from the Animal forum because the help I have receieved is very insightful ..its just this whole caregiving thing extends beyond what I origianally perceived.

However, it started me thinking ..if I had to stop working to look after my animal..then yes I would..no questions.

A few months gao, two puppies were abandoned outside our gateway and it was cold, throwing down with rain ..we sheltered them in a dog kennel overnight which our two dogs don't use !

Next day fed and watered them, they were cold and wet..we had a barbie planned for a friends birthady, we were making food etc..without going into detail we were several hours taking the pups to a sanctuary and cancelled the festivities..some of our friends thought us mad but that surely is caregiving?

If we had to do it longer, we would have done.

If my pet friend was ill, I would be with him and give care.

If he is injured or sick, I would give him care.

I would lose money from work and still give care.

I would miss work appointments and give care.

I would be there with him till the end and give care.

I would administer drugs, food etc and give care.

I would take him to the vets/animal hospital and give care.

But most importantly, I would be there for him to support, love...and to be with..no matter what.

This whole care thing is mind blowing..we seem to do it unconditionally.

Sorry had to start this thread with my cat missing but it made me realise we don't only include humans in our caregiving forum..I had not included animals.

    Re: Caregiving and Animals

     Hi Marie,

I was browsing some of the other forums and found this post ...

A flip side of what you wrote is when are we NOT willing to give any more care to our animals (and the more unspeakable shadow side of when are we not willing to give any more care to our loved ones ...)

The conflict between caring for others and self-preservation can be so heart-wrenching ...  and tappable ....

    Thanks for a thought-provoking post ....

    Hi Deborah,

    Interesting timing !

We were out with friends last night ( they have a holiday home and come out every few months ) and they have been helping some friends who live here. The guy is in hospital and has had a lump removed from his throat which may be cancerous.

In hospitals in Spain, quite often the family, partner etc look after the patient, sleep in, feed them, change dressings.

It is very stressful for the ' carer ' in hospital who in England are used to the nurses doing everything.

This couple are in their seventies and not long ago, his wife fell and was hospitalised with a broken leg.

He visited her about 10 minutes  a day and was known to say ' he couldn't do anything for her so it was pointless him being there.'

She is now tending him full time in hospital and he will not let her leave him, even for a coffee.

After forty years of marriage, she is starting to say ' I might do what he did..just stay 10 minutes and then go .. leave him to it..'

Have you heard that expression..' the worm is turning..'?!

Anyway, it seems to fit in exactly with your posting Deborah.

And another type of Carer/Caregiving situation which is slightly different perhaps to other countries?

I have started a new posting on this to ask what happens in other countries.

    Warmest wishes,

    Marie

A good point about caretaking varying per culture and country.  It seems the underlying issues are support for the caretaker and how to deal with the shadow feelings of resentment and anger and guilt ... what a great application of EFT.

    Hugs,

    Re: Caregiving and Hospitals

    Hi Marie!

In the US, everything is done by staff, very similiar to UK, I am sure. The downside is you give up complete control, or almost. Twenty years ago, when my daughter was in the hospital, I snuck Vitamin C in and she took large doses, years later her doctor said to me, he was amazed she didn't have any kidney involvement, I never told him, but, I attribute the fact to the V-C.

With the wonders of EFT, there are so many places for application in this scenerio, to help this couple.

    1. Her anger, frustration, guilt & exhaustion

    2. All the stress for both

    3. Fear of diagnosis of cancer

    4. The diagnosis - if it turns out to be true

    5. Pain

    6. History and what led him to this point. There are common emotional commotional factors involved, (which you are familiar with- I am posting it for others who may not be) based on Dr. Hamer's work. My on-going research survey has proven that. Discovering & resolving the issues that contribute is very important.

    7. Beyond those basic insights, there are other issues for specific cancers and locations, that are extremely helpful from "Messages from the Body."

    8. Helplessness ~ Hopelessness for both.

    9. Treatment and reaction to treatment.

    10. And the list goes on..............

A couple of weeks ago, Gary posted a story on the research I did on an Imprint 24/7 T-Shirt which had the affirmation "I Deeply and Completely Love, Honor, Forgive & Accept Myself" imprinted on the inside over the Heart Chakra. Paula Shaw is the contributor. I was so impressed with the results, that, I made my own transfer labels to apply to my wardrobe, so, I had actual 24/7 coverage. Besides for the implication of the research, there is just a general feeling of well-being that you feel.

As you, talk about coincidences, the report was posted about the time of this new forum and my involvement as co-moderator, & my pondering when, I was in the Carer/Caregiving Responsible Person Position and I remembered an incidence with my elderly aunt who had dementia. She was in the hospital and calling for her dog, "Murphy, Murphy. Murphy!" continually, and driving the staff "nuts"!

Some very bright nurse (this was in 1990 or earlier) placed a sign on her lap, that said, "Murphy is not here!" She immediately stopped calling for "Murphy" much to everyone's relief. Looking back, with a new appreciation and Dr. Emoto's research background, on the power of water, she must have absorbed the information to her brain, through her body's water! It was a large sign, written on an 8 1/2 by 11 sheet of paper. I honestly do not know if the size of her sign made a difference. It may have!

What, I do know from my testing, the affirmation "I deeply and completely Love, Honor, Accept & Forgive Myself" tested the best placed over my Heart Chakra and also, included "Love & Gratitude". I tested "Love & Gratitude" by itself and did not detect a recordable difference, which doesn't mean there isn't, just that both affirmations in combination, seem to have more power.

The purpose of this rambling is this technology is almost effortless in application and could be very helpful in reducing stress for both of your friends.

    Hi Sylvia,

Thank you so much for the amount of information in your posting.

Wow about the ' love, honour, accept and forgive myself ' !

I was only reading somewhere yesterday that ' gratitude ' is so important to put in ?

So does it mean that you use all those words, say in your set up phrase now?

The Murphy thing is mind blowing?!

As Gary says..' we are all pioneers '..what an exciting time we are in.

Anyway, I am going back to re read your posting as there is so much in there.

With love from across the seas ,

    Marie
