EFT was originally developed to reduce the therapy process from months/years down to minutes/hours. As emotional problems faded, both physical health and personal performance improved (often dramatically). As a result, EFT is spreading quickly among the healing community. It is an emotional version of acupressure wherein certain meridian release points are gently stimulated by tapping on them with the fingertips.

Clearing up the Rumors

This blog is for those concerned about the poorly based rumors that (1) Gary is taking away your EFT freedoms, (2) no one can use the EFT brand name any more unless they do only "Official EFT" and/or (3) Gary is going to sue anyone who does not comply with his "restrictions".

These are all absurd.  I never said any of them, publically or privately.  I have never even thought them.  In fact, they are the exact opposite of the truth.

These rumors apparently came from misinterpretations of the EFT Open Hand Policy.  These interpretations were then exaggerated out of proportion and spread around the internet.  The new MTT (Meridian Tapping Techniques) group is seen by some to be the savior from these false dangers. Some are even considering giving up their usage of the well established EFT brand name in favor of the enthusiastic promises of MTT.  In fact, no saving is necessary because the rumors and so-called restrictions are but a puff of smoke. While MTT may well have an honored place in this movement, it is not necessary to give up the highly recognized EFT name and make an "EFT to MTT switch" based on these rumors and resulting fears.

The EFT Open Hand Policy is a one-of-a-kind work in progress whose design is to give you unprecedented freedoms while still maintaining the essential integrity and credibility of EFT. It is being gradually revised to make sure it is clear.  Eventually, it will be replaced by a concise document that reflects all the inputs I am currently collecting.  While the current EFT Open Hand Policy should be read in its entirety, let me summarize its main points:

1. All previous freedoms are still intact.  You are still encouraged to create EFT oriented websites, books, workshops, innovations, etc. The only difference is that you are also asked for a routine acknowledgement that www.emofree.com is the main source for EFT. Properly done (see below), this allows you to attractively distinguish your unique offerings while respecting your customers with full information.  It also provides a courtesy to emofree.com as well as to other EFT'ers on our team.  It gives us a united front for the world to see and allows us to work together synergistically as teammates.  It also helps establish your credibility as this sort of acknowledgement is common courtesy. To eliminate it may be considered poor taste in the eyes of some customers.

Further, you are encouraged to make this acknowledgement creatively using your own words so that you can attractively portray your offerings.  Several examples are given in our Open Hand Policy for your use.  Here's another:

"My EFT approach is unique, yet draws heavily upon core EFT principles as provided at www.emofree.com.  I have hundreds of [students, clients] who love my XXXX innovative approach to these astonishing techniques.  Here is what they say....[include testimonials]"

Tip: ask your webmaster to includeTarget="_Blank" in your link because doing so will open emofree.com in a new window.  This way you will never lose a customer because  the relatively few customers that actually click on this link will always be returned to your site.

2. Obsolete EFT credentials must be replaced:  A major concern here is the EFT-ADV designation.  This designation portrays that one is "Advanced" but yet the knowledge to pass it consists of a relatively easy test on the second of our nine DVD sets.  Through no fault of the holders of this designation, it has become highly misleading and could serve to erode the credibility of anyone using it.  It is no longer advanced and has been rendered embarrasingly outdated by our newer DVD sets.

For instance, the "Advanced" implications of EFT-ADV do not reflect the major advances in (1) The Palace of Possibilities DVD set (writing on your walls, tail enders, relationship work, doing business with EFT), (2) The Specialty Series DVD sets (wherein 13 EFT experts show how they use EFT in specialized areas including trauma, relationships, allergies and addictions), (3) The Borrowing Benefits DVD set (a solid new discovery allowing the effective use of EFT for entire groups) as well as (4) The Serious Diseases and (5) Mastering EFT DVD sets (featuring highly sophisticated uses of EFT for the most complex issues imaginable).

The fault for this regrettable problem is mine because I should have done something about this (and other outdated credentials) years ago.  However, the problem has been solved by the introduction of our long overdue EFT Certification program.  This allows everyone to have ONE source of credible and recognizable certification and eliminates the problem of having a hodgepodge of credentials from a variety of sources.  This is vitally important to us all as our credibility into the future will help us stand out when the Big Doors (corporations, military, schools, medicine, sports, etc.) come knocking.

To pave the way for this opportunity and so that no one is disadvantaged, I am happy to announce that the $300 fee for the EFTCert-I designation is now being waived for anyone with previous EFT credentials, including EFT-CC, EFT-ADV, Workshop Levels 1, 2, 3, etc.  Details are given in the Certification section of the EFT website.

Hope this helps.  I will be pleased to read your comments to this blog.  It will help me formulate a workable solution for everyone.

Hugs, Gary

PS: A more detailed discussion of these issues is given in an 84 minute recorded discussion wherein Betty Moore-Hafter and Jade Barbee interview me on these topics.

Greetings from KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa.

Thank you Gary for all you have done so freely and unselfishly to help people from all over the world to help themselves with EFT.

Thousands of people like myself have been waiting for your explanation to our questions and in reply you so graciously exposed your humanity and expressed your humility in the most sincere and caring way that there is absolutely no reason to seek forgiveness for anything said, done, implied or anything that might have been translated or interpreted erroneously weather Intentionally or unintentionally. There are no mistakes, only opportunities for all of us to learn, adjust and progress. We all create our own reality.

As I am going to be 72 this year and as I am not in fulltime practice I might not apply for certification but I really appreciate the offer to do so free of charge.

Gary,

I am bemused by your strong statement concerning the banning of the use of EFT in a business name.  I vividly remember a phone call some 3 - 4 months back, when you told me, point blank, that I must not use EFT" in my domain names; EFTSuffolk.com and EFT -Training-EastAnglia.co.uk as it implied that I had been appointed by Emofree directly.  I explained that it was all about marketing and Search Engine Optimisation, so that when prospective patients or students searched on "EFT" as a "Keyword" I would stand an excellent chance of popping up near the top of Google and other search engines.  You did not agree.

I do love the good news however, concerning your certification of existing holders of "other" qualifications.  Even if I have reached level 3 and "Trainer" under the AAMET, I see this as a much needed olive branch and will be taking up your offer at my earliest convenience - once the rush subsides perhaps :-)

I see a new beginning for EFT around the wold!

Love and energy,

John.

Gary, I studied TFT, both levels, years ago and didn't use it because it seemed too complicated.  However, when I began to look into EFT and saw the relative simplicity of the 'mechanical' part (I understand the art of delivery is another matter) I began using it for myself and in my practice.  I am a licensed MFT and have also had Level I and II training in EMDR.  I have now viewed all of your training DVD's and have read many other's website articles, all of your newsletter articles, etc., but haven't had any other EFT training.  The above comments all seem to be from those who have had training from you.  Where would I get started if I decided to get training -- although I have to say there is so much available that I feel I am being trained every day from videos and reading material from you and other EFT practitioners.  Do you have a training on the horizon, and is there credit for all the previous training I've done?  Thanks.  Beverly Staley

Regarding John D.'s comments, I'd just like to urge you to listen to our interview with Gary. The concern about using the EFT name has finally been clarified. Gary knows he has made mistakes along the way and that there have been mixed messages and that some of the ways he has communicated have not worked well.

Jade and I spoke with Gary for many hours before that interview and, believe me, we were tough on him. We needed for him to know how we felt, and we needed straight answers. I just want everyone to know that we found Gary Craig to be amazingly humble in the face of realizing how much pain and confusion had been caused. He admits his mistakes and truly and sincerely wants to make things right. I can't tell you how much trust I gained in this process.

There is a perception that Gary "keeps changing his mind." Actually we found that his main concerns are very consistent. As he explains in the interview, it took trying some things to find out that they just didn't work in that form. The current approaches to certification, use of the EFT name, etc. are pretty solid, I think, and are overdue corrections for problems. Don't we all wish we could get things right the first time? Well, let's cut Gary some slack! Learning from our mistakes is the best any of us can do.

Gary, thank you again for being so receptive to feedback, so willing to hear our concerns and respond. I feel so much better and hope many others will too.

I am also a Certified Usui Reiki Master Teacher. There is a parallel between the Reiki and EFT worlds worth noting. Both are legitimate, effective means of helping people that are not acknowledged by the rest of the world as valid and viable alternatives. Both are working hard to establish their validity and help their practitioners establish viable practices in the mainstream. Both are going through the growing pains required to 'come out of the closet' into mainstream acceptance.

It is CRITICAL that all of us keep the focus on helping people and that we join forces to bring EFT into mainstream awareness and ultimately acceptance. Anything less will result in EFT remaining hidden from public sight and consideration.

I have been dually impressed with Gary's willingness for everyone to site www.emofree.com and EFT on their sites without restrictions - and most importantly to add input into the maturing process to ensure it's continued growth forward. What little 'restrictions' (if they can even be called that) are only to ensure the ongoing expansion of awareness of EFT. It also allows us to acknowledge Gary for his very critical work in making the Callahan Technique (which I read and couldn't condense for ease of use) readily available to each of us, and anyone else. If it wasn't for his work - none of us would be aware of or using EFT.  For anyone who doesn't appreciate the value Gary has added to this field - I highly recommend you try reading the Callahan Technique "tapping the healer within" - that will give you an appreciation for all of the work he put in to distill that information and test it rigorously to make sure the simpler accessible approach was as effective as the original more elaborate one established by Callahan.

Gary has not done what William Rand has done to Reiki. William Rand has set up a certification program for Reiki and is working his hardest to make that the test by which all Reiki practitioners are judged. This is splitting, not coalescing, the Reiki world. We are phenomenally lucky that Gary has not done this. He offers certification and I believe it says a lot for those who can afford to go through it. I personally can't. If I ever can afford it I will do so immediately, but the reality is that may never come to be.  (single mom of 3 children) But Gary doesn't dismiss those who practice EFT without a certification as 'less than' those who have a certification and he isn't seeking to have those certified be the only viable practitioners of EFT. I may be wrong, but my perception is he provides certification as a means to say 'these people were trained by me to the original principals of EFT - you can be assured of that'. By having certified people, he knows the 'purest' form of EFT, as well as any updates/improvements, will continue on and be available to train others. This is a necessary step in any 'new field' to ensure a certain quality and consistency in method, and prepares the field for the future.

I would expect that, like with Reiki, (and massage and acupuncture before that) there will come a time when this has to be 'standardized' and 'certified' if it does hit mainstream acceptance. The public and insurance companies will demand it. So everyone needs to think ahead and prepare for that also. There are benefits and drawbacks to being available to all and in the mainstream.

Gary's concern is helping people and moving EFT out into the light of the public eye. This comes across clearly. We should all do our part to support this effort and appreciate how his work made this possible for us. Certified or not - means nothing if EFT remains closeted away from the world, and my sense is Gary is aware and respectful of that.

I encourage everyone to not tear apart the EFT world by 'breaking' off into factions. I don't approve of MTT's approach to bi-sect this community. The premise of every healer is to do no harm. Being factional is doing harm to more than yourself or another person, it harms an entire world by denying it awareness to EFT. I also feel everyone, even MTT, owes a debt of gratitude to Gary for making EFT available to us. Gary should be acknowledged by all for his historical work in bringing EFT to everyone, just as Takata is acknowledged in the Reiki world for bringing it to western civilization. He holds a place in history we ALL should honor, irregardless of how or where we practice EFT. The fact that he is humble and open to community input says a lot about him as a person.

Funny how you have given something so valuable so freely and with the purest of intentions to the world, and then we feel all these different emotions of loss coming up when we feel the slightest threat at the idea that it is being taken away.  Some tappable issues possibly!  I am wondering if the shift that we are all experiencing now is as a result of the spirituality that 'our' EFT has developed in us all, where by we can 'tap' into that part of ourselves that 'we deeply and profoundly love and accept' we are in fact now being given even more than we could have imagined in the things that you have planned for us.  Over the last few weeks I had reservations when I heard of various planned interviews etc., and was imagining the whole EFT practitioners/trainers/masters all going their own way, and comparisons of the thousands of different religions we have nowadays.  Thanks to everyone who has been involved, that they have chosen to act from a place of love instead of fear so I feel more confident that the EFT community is safe and looking forward to a wonderful and even greater future.  Thank you Gary for a truly wondrous gift.  Janet Deane

I've always felt that "EFT" was meant to be bigger than just some basic process. To me, EFT has always meant strong core principles + the innovations and individuality of skilled, enthusiastic practitioners. It was my hope that Emofree would reiterate this through clear language and consistent action.

Happily, by the time we recorded our interview, I'd achieved a resolution that I suspected was waiting for me. I'm pleased there are big actions acknowledging and demonstrating our "synergistic" partnership, and that expectations around this are finally becoming clearer. While we will no doubt be clarifying details as the process unfolds, I feel the "big stuff" has finally been acknowledged and handled appropriately.

Thanks Gary for recognizing this need and stepping up as you have. It's been a pleasure to be a part of this.

It was a big relieve to listen to the interview with Betty Moore-Hafter and Jade Barbee!

As Gary mentioned in the interview a few weeks ago, there are a lot of people who want to play the "big game" under the cover of EFT in a very unethical way - the german guy, who registered EFT under his own name and after failing with this he is spreading EFT under another name quite similar to MTT as his own developement...

Now it is clear: Nobody has to worry about agressive attorneys (like some people in Germany and Switzerland does, after they tried to inform people about what´s going on behind the curtain of ...) if he uses the term EFT in an ethical and open way!

I was touched and I felt honoured again, that Gary mentioned all the people who brought the diversity and the blendings and their own unique skills into the big field of EFT. I was so sorry when I read, that Pat Carrington started to use the term MTT, because her wonderful Choices method was no longer an EFT part -- I hope this will be over now!

Here in germany and all the other german speaking countries, my husband Robert Rother (well known as Garys german warrior ;-)) and I started a special EFT Training under the name of ATEB for people, who wants to work with other people in a professional way.  This ATEB EFT training includes 5 steps: first a two day training of the basics of EFT, open for all. Second step: 5 Days in a small group of 10 participants clearing as much as they are able all the emotinal clutter - quite similar to "Try it at everything"

Third step: 5 days practical training of one to one sessions with clients - and it is a lot of diversity in this 5 days! This includes also what to to with trauma, how react, if someone does not feel anything, etc etc -

Step Four: 5 Days practical work - back to the basics, what to do with difficult cases, all the variations of EFT

Step 5: 5 Days practical examination.

Between all the steps the participants have to do protocols of their work with clients and we see how they grow in their skills! This is only a small overview about what we are offering, maybe it is a step into a direction which helps people to work ethical and skillful and safe in these growing legal restrictions in the field of healing techniques...

I tell this because it is so unknown, that in other countries there are many people who are dedicated to the work of Gary AND unfolding their own variations on the basis of his EFT. Mostly it is the language barrier which causes problems with the official certification program in other countries...

I am really optimistic about the unfolding process and my thanks to Betty (Robert translated her lovely book into German) and all the others to stay in the game and helping to open a new window for all who wants to spread the word of EFT!

Thank you, Gary, for this step and the openess! This helped a lot!

I VERY much appreciate all Gary Craig has provided with EFT for the people at large and he has done this without any prejudice towards anyone I can see, and that says a lot for His Character. It sounds like there is someone who is jealous and that should not be there. We need to do everything we can to provide a REAL Alternative for the people, from the current Medical Practices and that can be best accomplished by supporting everyone who provides legitimate alternatives. EFT is the best I have seen and I really hope it will continue for a long time. It opens up a whole new world of learning for many people at a very reasonabe cost that offers a self help alternatice and a way to become self-employed, to anyone who wants to learn and frees up  a person from being a prisoner to the AMA.  I cannot see anywhere Gary has overcharged or been selfish with any of the information he is STILL providing and that is more than I can say for others over the years. Health care should NOT BE a means to enslave people with debt, but a way to truely heal themselves and their family and friends without a mortgage on the farm. I bought the 9 DVD'S of EFT and I don't regret it a bit. Keep up the good work Gary!!       Sincerely, Seymour Marvin Mills

Thank you Gary, once again.  I found emofree.com very soon after the website was first posted, and I have been aligned with you ever since, observing the "new" people beginning to splinter off and making egoic decisions in order to cover up EFT and put their own spin on what they only so slightly altered to be "legitimate". Bless those people for needing to get out there with their own methods, as they have finally brought us to this point of unity, once again, and with clarity.

I have been using EFT from the beginning, and have seen the most wonderful benefits of EFT in hundreds of my clients and in my personal life. I have regularly written about EFT results in a well-known health magazine, and yet I don't have a certificate, badge, or any other proof that I am capable of teaching EFT and assisting others with EFT. yet the wonderful results speak for themselves. Thankfully, I was a "pro" before the others came along.

Gary, I applaud your sincerity, your integrity, and willingness to bring the basics back to the basic EFT that works.  Thank you for being open to the old and new tapping methods, and thank you for allowing EFT to be what it is - a most grand method of healing on many levels.

Thank you, Gary. I'm not eligible for the waiver but that doesn't matter. When I first began to study EFT and before I realized the full extent of it's miraculous-ness, I was  drawn to the integrity and generosity I felt from you. Those qualities feel stronger than ever and I think they have a huge impact on EFT, which benefits all of us. And on top of that, EFT is SO miraculous!

After listening to your frank admission that you may have boo-booed in allowing things to develop the way they did it was made abundantly clear that your intention was honorable even if misunderstood or misconstrued. In other words "You were doing the best you could given your background etc ..."

I would like to add my thanx to the many others who have expressed their appreciation to you at  this time. EFT has become a personal part of my life and I have benefited immensely since I discovered it five years ago.

Hugs, hugs and more hugs to you.

I am very appreciative of all you have done to help clear up some misunderstandings. I have absolutely no itention of asking for a refund as the benefits of taking the initial exam were so valuable to me. I was glad of the opportunity to do so and am excitedlyvawaiting the study guide for the next level.

I agree with Melinda that there are many parallels between Reiki and EFT.  Like Melinda, I work with both.  I use two trademarked systems in the Main; EFT and Tera-Mai.  Both are very allowing, and the Tera-Mai Reiki Association in the UK made sure it worked with all other Reiki associations to write the National Occupational Standards for Reiki practitioners - together.  I am very honored to have been part of that process, and I can tell you that we were all equal around that table for all those years that it took.

Just like with Reiki, the self-centered of the EFT world still do their own thing and try to rule everyone else, and that is part of the evolution process.  I have always trusted Tera-Mai's founder Kathleen Milner and she has always done right by me.  She is not perfect, being a mere mortal like the rest of us, but she does her best to be fair and is very giving with her trademark.  Gary feels the same to me energetically.  I have stuck with Kathleen Milner's system all along for Reiki and it brought me plenty in every way.  I shall continue to stick with Gary's system, and like Deborah has said, I have benefited plenty from the EFT Cert-1 so will not be asking for my fee back.

Dear Gary

Indeed the a good father to your child. It is time to give your child the beautiful messages your mother has gracefully impregnated into your being. The deep trust that you can become your ultimate potential. Mostly a parent comes to stage where he has to let go of the image he had for his child’s  future to stay in touch with the person he is to become.

I sincerely do not think that any of the profits , if it is Jesus, Mohammed,  Buddha,  Moses etc, will be thrilled with some of what humanity has done with their teachings. Do you really think it’s because they haven’t created a proper certification program?

EFT has the potential to become a universal implication for every being, no matter their cultural background, energy state, age,  level of education etc. all this political childish commotion over the peelings of the onion is so ridiculously irrelevant and almost disrespectful to the true potential and power of what you have offered through your person, enthusiasm and integrity to this generation and generations to come.

I found it so refreshing your statement about diplomas and certification in your DVDs that I would like that spirit to guide the manifestation of EFT’s potential development.

Let go and enjoy the ride.

Blessings

Aurel

Gary,

I regularly mention on my own site how powerful the tools offered here are, and how incredibly generous you have been with free information.  I'm gradually integrating the wisdom of EFT more and more into what I do on my own website.

One of my long term goals is to give away as much value as you do.

All that you do and offer with EFT has been more than fair since I have been aware of emofree.com... and I'm very happy to be one of your customers!

keep smiling,

Ben
